Nordstrom Sale – Currently in my Cart
Love it or hate it the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is here! My initial goal was to share my tips for shopping the sale but momma’s been busy making that money at my real job so I could shop this sale. You will have to settle for a few of the tips I’ve learned since my first NSale experience 4 years ago while I also share what is currently in my cart waiting for my final decision.

Back in May I shared my Tips for Online Shopping and many of those apply here as well. One of the biggest is to be sure to look at all the pictures provide. It is amazing to me how many times I’ve made an assumption about the size of a bag or the fit of a piece of clothing based on one view. Handbags seem to be the area this really helps me as many times I have grossly underestimated the bags size with the first view and it really helps to see it actually worn.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is special due to the reduction on so many items for a future season. It’s the perfect time to stock up on some staples for fall. The trap I have fallen into so many times is grabbing cute tops, sweaters, etc instead of sticking to the staples. There is absolutely nothing wrong with grabbing some cute new styles for fall but I really try to grab those items I know I need to replace in my closet which are longer term. Shoes, workout clothes, new undergarments, staple work pieces and maybe a new purse are definitely pieces I focus on.
I know it’s tough when you see everyone posting all the great deals and cute things but, seriously, the biggest lesson I’ve had to learn is I really just cannot have everything! AND I really just don’t NEED everything. I’ve spent alot of time the past 6 months pairing down my closet so I’m really going to try and make this a conscious splurge vs a free for all. So my tip is don’t lose your mind over this!
My favorite part of shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is picking up gifts and back to school items. I have knocked out Carly Jo’s birthday and typically most of Jordan’s birthday and Christmas by the time the sale is over. My kids typically grab a new pair shoes to start school as well. It is just such a bonus to save money on a Christmas gift that you know will be in style and in season even once December arrives!
I will be sharing some categories of fun items over the coming days because even if I can’t buy it all I want you to have the chance to! Let me know if there is any particular category you are lacking in and I’ll be happy to browse for you. For now, here is what I’ve either already added to my cart or typically grab during the sale.
Designer jeans are one of the best values during the sale. Currently, my favorite designer brand is DL1961. I love this pair and currently own them in two washes plus a black. They wear so well, have a teeny amount of stretch but have definitely held their shape. I am considering trying a pair of AG brand jeans during the sale as everyone always raves about them. Jeans is a category I don’t mind spending more money on because price per wear I get my money’s worth!
I need some new work shoes like nobody’s business. Typically my go to in the fall/winter months is booties and I’m loving (wanting) this pair so much but y’all, what I really NEED is some dress shoes. This pair of nude pumps is in my cart in both this color and black because I just cannot decide. I love the look of patten leather but they never work for my feet because I don’t think they have as much give. I don’t always love a nude leather but I’m thinking the studs fancy these up a bit.
If you are looking for something in an animal print, oh my, so many great pairs to choose from and I am currently trying to decide if I need a loafer, a flat or this pair of heels! I’ve shown off my leopard booties so many times and they are definitely a staple for me in the fall and winter but if I was really wanting to replace them I don’t think I could pass up this pair at this price!
So if you have not invested in a pair of “live in” leggings yet, this is another thing I almost always grab. However, these do typically restock often and many times go on sale again closer to the Christmas holidays. While I wear the cropped leggings for working out, the longer style I use as a true legging. To me the crops are dual purpose because even in this cropped length I can easily toss on tall boots and be ready to go.
Currently I’m looking to add fun workout pants so this pair is in my cart because I think they will be super flattering. My second fave workout pant is Nike and as soon as I saw this fun pair in the catalog I knew I had to try them! Definitely in my cart.
This kind of breaks my rules about buying something “ordinary” but I’m kind of crushing on this style and I would almost guarantee this cardigan will go super fast. The shorter sleeves make this one a multi-seasonal piece so it’s worth it to me. I love this color and cannot decide if I need to also grab in black. It’s also a great time to grab a new blazer if you are needing to replace one. I grabbed this one last year and love it enough I currently have a new color in my cart.
I grabbed a NARS palette with blush, highlighter and bronzer two years ago and when I saw this palette as part of the sale I knew it as time to order something new. This makes an amazing gift for sure!
I’m really loving the Tory Burch tote but thinking as hard as I am on bags this Chelsea 28 bag would be a better decision. If you saw my current bag you would feel so sorry for me and want to contribute to a paypal fund to help me make a good decision. Ha! Seriously, I’m at the borderline nasty stage. 🙂
So there you have it, my first pass picks. Looks like I have some decision making to do because that cart price is a little scary. Ha! Just remember if you shop the sale, this is a marathon and not a sprint! I figure if I’m deciding and an item sells out it just wasn’t meant for me.
Happy Shopping!
