New Year New You + TBB Asks Linkup

The Blended Blog is once again hosting this fun little linkup and this month it has a New Year, New You theme perfect for January.  If you have not participated before, I encourage you to grab the graphic, give TBB a little shoutout and link up your answers.  Answering prompted questions such as these are an easy way to share a little about yourself and learn more about others.  Still on the fence?  Well come along and learn a little more about me today!

One | I’m not a write a resolution in stone kind of girl but I do love the clean slate a new year brings.  The last several years instead of a resolution I’ve chosen a word for the year and really focused on living day to day during the year with that little word whispering in the background.  In 2015 my focus was on being present which was definitely an area I struggled with but in 2016 I chose receiving and it was honestly way deeper than I even realized and really helped me grow.  I took a different stance in 2017 and chose the theme waste not.  I was so tired of wasting time, money, resources but I was also tired of missing out on opportunities to build relationships and further my career.  So what am I choosing for 2018?  You will have to come back tomorrow!

Two | I LOVE snow!  As long as it is short lived or I have traveled to purposely be in the snow! I’m not going to lie, this Texas girl wouldn’t make it a week up north with the freezing temperatures and six feet of snow.

Three | Traveling is such a favorite and there are so many places I want to see and so little time!  This year I’m hoping to head to West Palm Beach for spring training but my biggest dream is to head for a week long vacation with all my kids during the Thanksgiving break.  I’d love to go somewhere like the Cayman Islands!

Four | Well this one is tough!  I’d love a new hair cut but only if I could have someone else’s hair!  My hair is so finicky and every time I try something new I regret it.  I’d say I’d have to stick with the color and have definitely tried some different shades in the past.

Five | Focus on my wellness all the way around.  I’ve definitely had my share of indulgences this past year (note I did not waste any food) and I really need to clean up my eating but also be more consistent with getting my heart rate up.  This is not just about how  I look for me anymore it is also about how I feel mentally.  When I treat my body well I’m better able to focus and I am definitely more equipped to handled stress.

Six | Definitely the short days and so many dreary days.  This girl needs sunshine all the way to my soul!

Seven | Absolutely celebrating Dillon’s birthday!  January was never that exciting until he came along and this year he turns 16!!

Eight | Well….typically I wait until after January 1st but this year I started a few days before and still have one tree standing in my breakfast area plus all our lights are still on the exterior.

Nine | I do not diet ever.  Bahahaha….that’s what I tell myself anyway and that is my intention.  I do adjust my diet to eating a little cleaner but I try to do that most of the time during the year anyway.  It just happens January is a good time to clean things up after all the holiday binging.

Ten | Oh hell….I can only pick one?  So many improvements this past year but I guess if I’m being completely honest I would say it would be our garage.  It is a complete and utter disaster.  I’m determined 2018 will be the year we finally toss some things we’ve been holding onto and I can maybe convince the hubby he doesn’t really need 27 fishing poles (insert eye roll) and we can find some order.  My goal is to park a car in the garage soon!

Eleven | Give me all the soup!  Tomato soup, potato soup, chili; I love it ALL!

Twelve | Taking advantage of an empty house.  I know this is crazy but I dream of the house being empty so I can clean and purge, etc with no one here but the truth is being alone is the only time I’m very good at being lazy!  I can sit for hours and binge watch tv, read and actually even nap but only when I’m at home alone.

So that’s a little about me!  Grab the prompts and answer the questions; easy peasy.  If you would please also link back to The Blended Blog in your post that would be super!

  1. I am with you – the only time I can be truly lazy is when I have the house to myself! It used to be opposite that but girl…I get it! Looking forward tos eeing what you’re into as the year goes along. I hope you have a great day!

  2. How cute are you holding that snow?! 🙂 I’m so with you on that answer! Enjoy celebrating your son’s 16th this month! My oldest just had her Sweet 16 in November. It’s so bittersweet! <3 Wishing you a wonderful month enjoying snow and spoonfuls of comfort!

  3. So over the moon for that picture of you sweet friend! My hair is an utter mess! That’s right, you have a January birthday boy too! Cute D!! And you, cute mama, go have a GREAT DAY!!

  4. I think it’s funny how you and I read the new haircut or hair color question differently. I didn’t think about it as far as a NEW (read change), but as a fresh. LOL My answer for that would definitely be a cut then. I’d never have the guts to change my hair color. Happy January!

  5. How are we going to celebrate your sweet boy turning 16? And, can someone please double-check the math??? No way these boys are that old!

  6. I hear you–an empty house is a wonderful thing! And I always SAY I’ll get all this stuff done, but in reality I read, snack, and take naps. Ha! 🙂 And yes to all the soup this time of year!

  7. I am so right there with you on the last one.. my husband took all three boys away for the day on Saturday and I don’t think I left the couch longer than it took to switch the clothes in the washer to the dryer. I watched the entire season of Life in Pieces and enjoyed the quiet house.

  8. I love all kinds of soups too ! The weather in Nebraska has been so cold and all I’ve been doing is making soups to keep us warm !

  9. 16!!!! That is so stinking exciting. I have LOVED how many people said no to dieting. There is such a HUGE difference in pursuing healthier eating and dieting.

  10. Wait, what?? Cars go in the garage?? No way! And just wait until your kid is talking about turning 21 (which mine does in September) – I still think of her as being 12!
