Merry Media

For me staying at home this time of year is my favorite!  The twinkly lights, the shorter days and cooler temps all make for the perfect conditions to shuck a little responsibility and be lazy.  Today I’m sharing some merry media I’ve found entertaining this December.

I kicked off the holidays in November by attending a women’s event at a local church.  The entire night was devoted to preparing your heart and home for Christmas and this book was mentioned by one of the women speaking.  I’ve grabbed a copy and really think it will be a great read with lots of highlights!

As described on Amazon, Sacred Holidays is part book and part resource: meant to help you avoid what has tripped you up in the past and give you insights, tips, and tools to make your holidays less chaotic and more about loving Jesus and others.

If you are looking for a sweet little read, Holly and Ivy was a quick read and a heartwarming little story.  I picked it up on Friday and was finished by Sunday even with a very busy weekend.

For several years I pulled out this book to read  and it always just brings me to tears by Christmas day.  It also really helps to keep things all in perspective when we may begin to get a little crazy.  The Greatest Gift really does bring it all full circle telling the love story of Christmas.

This movie came highly recommended and we finally had the chance to watch over the weekend.  It is super cute!  I mean Kurt Russell as Santa?  How could that be wrong?  Don’t fall asleep because you don’t want to miss out on the special appearance of a familiar face as Mrs. Clause at the end.  If you have Netflix this is a must!

We  kick off every holiday season watching Elf and it pretty much goes on repeat.  I feel like just about any age can enjoy this show so it works really well for a full family night.

As for me, if I had to pick an ultimate must to get my holly jolly on, I’m going to watch The Holiday every single year.  I love this movie so darn much and it always leaves me feeling so happy!

I have to say, as much as I typically listen to Christmas music each year this year I have not.  Let’s see if I can fix that today after seeing some suggestions.  Typically I’m all about the classics but don’t mind if they have been fancied up a bit with a modern touch.
