Media Monday – February Review

As life begins to ramp up with weekends full of baseball and dance, I always think that means I will have more time for reading. Somehow it never quite works out that way but this month I did try listening to books for the first time and I may be hooked! So instead of a book review, I’m sharing my February review for media Monday!

After listening to the Bobby Bones Show mention this Amazon audible special launching on January 31st, I decided to give audible a free test run. I love James Taylor music and it was so intriguing and heartbreaking to hear about he first 21 years of his life. Things could have turned out so differently for him! If you are a James Taylor fan you will enjoy this!

Plus, it is free with your audible subscription and you can try audible for 30 days for free as well. Free = Free….so I was sold! I really think listening to memoirs in a persons own voice is my new favorite thing!

Inside Out

I am a true kid of the 80’s and first fell in love with Demi Moore watching St. Elmo’s Fire and About Last Night. When she married Bruce Willis and they had all their babies I just loved her more. Somewhere in my grown up life I kind of lost track of her and, while I knew of her marriage to Ashton Kutcher and some other drama, I had no clue how much she battled with her entire life.

With 2 audible credits available, I knew I had to download this book and, y’all, so good! I listened to Demi tell the story of her life in one full day. Such a powerful story and one I could certainly relate too at times as a woman who has been guilty of turning myself inside out to please others or become someone I thought a parent, a man, a friend wanted me to be.

I give this all 5 stars! Here are a just a few of the quotes I loved.

“What if everything hadn’t happen to me but had happened for me?”

“We all struggle and we all triumph and we all get to choose how we hold both.”

My friend Stephanie at Let’s Chat Books mentioned Regretting You earlier in February and when I saw it was a free Kindle Unlimited read I snagged it. With family secrets, a teenage daughter full of hormones and of course an unrequited love, this is a typical Colleen Hoover read. Probably will not be my number one read of the year but for $1.99 it kept me turning the pages!

If you love Elin Hildebrand and read Summer of ’69, then you might want to hop over and grab this continuation of the story. Summer of ’79 is only availble on Kindle right now for a limited time for only $1.99 with the book to be released later this year.

On the Bright Side

Lastly, it’s launch day for this little gem! I’m so excited to have a new Melanie Shankle read on my nightstand. I pre-ordered and have already sped through the first 3 chapters. This book is lovely and has already made me laugh out lout and sparked some tears. My favorite kind of read! Can’t wait to finish and share my full review next month.

What’s on your media radar this month?
