Carpool Book Club {May}

Joining Rachel and Astleigh for their Favorite Summer Reads!
Hill Collection

And the orginal linkup  with Narci from Grace and Love for the Carpool Book Club which will be up and rolling again next Wednesday, June 17th.
The blogging world has really inspired me to read more and I had forgotten how much I loved it!  Here are a few of my favorites so far this year.

{The Girl on the Train}

So far this year this has been my very favorite fiction book.
  It took me a bit to get into it at first but once I did I could not put it down.  I was totally wanting the main character, Rachel, to turn her life around and was really pulling for her.  The twist and turns were so unexpected and I was hanging on every word until the end.  I have not read Gone Girl but a lot of people have indicated if you loved that book you will love this one as well.

{The Best Yes}

This book was one I tried to read as school was getting started in August but was not able to settle myself and really get into it until January.  This is definitely an area I have tended to struggle with in the past as I think many of us women do.  My heart aims to please and I have many times taken on too much; always fearful of saying no and left feeling worn down and overwhelmed and often taking too much time away from my family.  I literally took notes while reading this book and have referred back to them several times.  Here are two of the biggest takeaways from Lysa.
“A woman who lives with the stress of an overwhelmed schedule will often ache with the sadness of an underwhelmed soul.”
She used the verse below to note that a prudent person realizes that all of life is connected.  Aware of cause and effect relationship between what she chooses today and what she experiences tomorrow.
The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty. – Proverbs 27:12
Both of these books would be perfect to add to your summer reading list!
Thanks again Narci for hosting the Carpool Book Club!

  1. I loved The Best Yes! One of my favorite takeaways was an overwhelmed schedule equals an underwhelmed soul as well. How true that is. I'll have to check out the other book you recommended. I'm trying to add more fiction to my reading list :).
