June Joys & Intentions
May was swift and we survived it! So many days my Timehop was full of some post from several years back with a funny meme or just my overall exasperation over the craziness I felt in May. It was almost reassuring to know it has always been a crazy month and even so we have always made it through.
For me learning to accept the crazy and just move through it has allowed me not to loose every bit of joy I have even when every single thing is out of control. I tried to adjust my goals accordingly as to not overwhelm myself unnecessarily so let’s see how I did.
May Joys & Intentions
- Continue the Chronological bible in a year plan!
- Read 3 books
- Celebrate prom, dance recital, Cinco de Mayo, teachers, Mother’s Day and the last day of school
- Drop Direct TV….like really I have to do this in May!
- Commit to moving my body in some way 3 days a week!
- Plan a date night with Keith
- Have friends over for dinner
While I did fall behind a few days multiple times, I’m still plugging along with the Bible in a Year plan. I’ve completed 12 books of the bible y’all! I’m sure you are all sick of hearing it by now, but the reading plan on bible.com combined with the Bible Recap podcast has really helped me not only read but actually comprehend.
Two books were read cover to cover and I finally finished reading It’s Not Supposed to be this Way. I’m also participating in a book club at work where we are reading Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion and Purpose which is written by the guy behind the success of Zappos.
Y’all, I did not think about dropping Direct TV one time until last Thursday when I was reconciling our bank account and saw the new charge!!!! We are no longer receiving the discount and I’ve got to drop this like a hot potato. To really make my husband happy I need something with sports, the history channel and the discovery channel. I’ve been looking at Sling TV so share your favorites with me!
The only way I succeeded at moving my body in some way 3 times a week was if you count the walk from my parking lot to the office! I made it to the gym one time and I even stopped wearing my FitBit because I just didn’t even want the pressure.
For those of you with littles just know, the dating gets easier as they become older and no longer want to hang with you! Even so, we only managed one date all month long but that is better than zero. I made the most of sitting as close as I could to him at ballgames and dance recitals!
I’m going to blame it on my lack of movement in May because I legit cannot remember if we had friends over for dinner or not! I do know we had my mother-in-law over for Mother’s Day! I also took dinner to a sweet friend whose husband had heart surgery and we had lunch after church with our besties one Sunday.
Boy did we celebrate ALL the things in May though! There was prom, 5 baseball playoff games, 2 dance recitals, teacher appreciation week, dance showcase and dance banquet. On Mother’s day I celebrated with my mom and Mamaw over lunch and a little shopping. I had so much fun collaborating with HomeGoods and celebrated the kickoff of our annual budget at work. Yes, I’m even celebrating the work stuff as it is always such a relief to get started after months of build up! We wrapped up celebrating the end of school with a trip to the coast fishing!
