Gifts for the Hostess

The first weekend of December is upon us and it is always one of my very favorites of the year!  For probably at least the past 12 years we have spent the first Friday in December catching up with a dear group of friends who host an annual Christmas party on the first Friday.  When you have friends with the gift of hosting, you want to be sure to continue to receive your invite year after year so taking along a little something to say thank you is a nice touch.  My standard would definitely be a bottle of wine, but here are some gift ideas a little more outside the box and maybe even a tad more thoughtful.

Hostess Gifts - The Queen in Between

Wine Glasses always make a great gift and it is easy to find glasses with a little Christmas flare this time of year.   I am particularly crazy about these copper stemless wine glasses as they are a little different and could be used year round.

Who isn’t always ready for a game of Tic Tac Toe?  I’m thinking for friends who enjoy games, grabbing this set for under $20 would be so fun to add to your hostesses coffee table!  Along the same lines, I’m loving the set of wooden dice!

Finding a personalized ornament or even one with the year such as these Li Bien ornaments would really be a beautiful gift and I think it would be so fun to add a new one each year for an annual party!

One thing I do love is sending snail mail but I often find myself short on note cards.  How special would it be to gift your hostess personalized stationary?  Minted has some beautiful (yet pricey) options and I also found some fun sets from Shutterfly.

Candles are always a winning choice!  Be sure to pick something a little on the mild side unless you know for sure the family loves a particular scent.  The Cardamon &  Vetiver scent from Hearth & Hand is one of my favorites.  Along the same lines, handmade soaps would also make a great gift.

The day after a big party can always be a little, um, long. Baking an easy to pop in the oven breakfast casserole or taking some breakfast breads would also be a very thoughtful gift.  Or put together a fun gift of holiday inspired paper goods so she can skip the dishes.  Plus, I always love a gift that doesn’t keep on giving if you know what I mean!

Hope you are all well on your way to completing your shopping!  If you are still on the hunt for the perfect gift, be sure to see the gift guide I’ve pulled together for tweens as well as all the ladies in your life.  Oh, and if you haven’t been paying close attention, Target has been having some amazing daily deals!  Today only is 30% off Winter Gear and don’t forget Target is offering free shipping and returns through December 23rd.    Great time to stock up on some stocking stuffers or a new coat!
