Holiday Look – Ageless Style Linkup
December is always a fun month for parties and social gatherings surrounding the holidays and we thought it would be fun to show off some holiday looks for the December Ageless Style linkup. This year instead of ordering an outfit or two only suited for the holidays, I decided to shop my closet and pull together a fun party look with some pieces I already had on hand.
In my opinion you can never go wrong starting with an all black base especially if you have found yourself like me with little self control. When I’m carrying a little extra fluff, wearing all black allows me to feel pulled together but gives an appearance of a slimmer look.
This vest has been in my closet for at least 4 years and every year I say I’m going to finally let it go but so far it keeps hanging on. Adding a little fur is an easy way to add some glam to an other wise plain outfit.
I really wish these booties had photographed a little better as they are pretty fun. I purchased four years ago for a special trip to NYC for New Years and I still love pulling them out to add a little sparkle to an outfit.
Off the shoulder tops are flirty and fun so but I never thought to add under a vest. I’m kind of loving how this turned out!
Adding more vibrant makeup can also take a holiday look up a notch. Due to some article I read several years back, I really shy away from deep, dark lipsticks as the story is they make you look older and momma doesn’t need any help with that! However, most holiday gatherings are going to be in dimmer light and I think adding a fun deep lipstick can really be a showstopper. This bright red has been in my drawer for a really long time and I loved how it looked with this outfit.
My last tip would definitely be wear something you feel comfortable and confident in. There is nothing like showing up for a social dressed in an outfit you are self conscious in. If I am confident in my outfit I will be more likely to participate in conversations and enjoy the night even if I may not be dressed like everyone else.
So what is your go to holiday look? I definitely am not opposed to wearing colors nor getting a little fancier! I’ve pulled together some items almost identical to the ones I’m wearing plus a great green dress I really thought I ordered on Black Friday but it has yet to show up! Oops!

The darker lipstick looks great on you, and all black is always a winner!
I seriously didn’t realize how much I’ve missed it Tanya! I may be going back to my old ways. 🙂
“Little self control.” Haha! That’s one way to describe my holiday eating! I’m so envious of your fur vest! I would love to have something like this in my closet but never seem to find just the right one.
Girl….the struggle is real over here! I have let this go on for a full year now and just joined a wellness group that will start in January. I need some accountability!
Don’t you just love how long the fur vests have held on, Shelly?? In fact, I just added another to my closet, so I’m hoping it’ll be like plaid—a classic especially for the winter!!
You look fabulous and thanks for the fun theme!!
XOXO

I am! I love vests in general as heavy coats aren’t needed so much here in Texas but it’s nice to have something to layer.
Love this look on you Shelly. And the fact that you shopped your closet!
Thank you Paula! I’m so working on downsizing my closet.
I love this! Don’t let go of that vest…it’s a forever piece. I wouldn’t have thought to go with an OTS blouse either, but I LOVE the way it looks. All black…yes, ma’am. You can’t go wrong. I love the red lip too. I want to find a good red for me (hard to do) and Kent’s not a fan of bright lipstick. I think it might just be because he’s not use to seeing me with it on. Great job shopping your closet. I think I’d better get to doing the same. Things I’ve ordered for his office party this weekend are taking longer to arrive than I expected. UGH!
Girl…I seriously think I put some things in my cart and then never hit purchase! I decided it was a sign!
I love that fun fur vest!! Olivia has one and I’m soooo jealous! I need one!
It really is a fun piece…not to mention a conversation starter! I can’t tell you how many times I’m asked what kind of fur it is and if they can touch it. lol
I absolutely love this look – it’s my go-to go out fave!
Thanks Deena! I don’t know why I have never paired this up before!
I love this entire looks but your boots are screaming my name!! I love the look of the pattern/texture.
They are seriously so fun! Not the most comfortable but they definitely work for a holiday party!
Oh my gosh I need those booties, in my life, right now. They’re so cute! I love your outfit, especially that fur vest, so beautiful.
I love this look on you ! Wow. Of course the vest is gorgeous, nothing like some furry fun in fashion! I really love the all black look on you too.
Have a great day!

I LOVE this outfit! You wear that fur vest so well. I have always wanted one, but where I live don’t have much reason for one. I think I would mostly wear it for the first few hours of the day and then it would get left behind the rest of the day, hehe.
Beautiful Shelly and you’re right – wear something you are comfortable and confident in – that’s key!

Gorgeous! Love this all black look, and your vest is just fabulous!

This is a great look! You really can’t go wrong with faux fur during the holidays.
