Herringbone Vest

Fashion
This vest has been around quite awhile.  I purchased one in 2014 but ended up passing it along to my oldest daughter because I just could not make it work for me.  Seeing it everywhere this fall had me longing for it again so I picked on up from Gray Monroe. It literally hung in my closet from November until this past Saturday when I decided enough was enough!
Herringbone Vest
It was a rainy Saturday here so I pulled out my red wellies and decided I needed something on top that was fun.  I love the Halogen sweater I picked up last summer during the Nordstrom anniversary sale and it has been in the rotation a lot this fall and winter.  See how I styled it with stripes here.

I have had my eye on this Clare V leopard clutch for at least a year but could not justify the price.  Thankfully I was one of the lucky ones to snag a very close look alike from Gray Monroe in November.  It is currently sold out but if you visit the website you can sign up for a restock notice and they should be available again soon.  Totally a bargain as the quality and price are super!

I decided I loved the casual look so much the vest deserved a chance in the workplace.  I paired it with a softened denim shirt, my very fave plaid scarf and a black skirt.  For kicks I decided to throw in one more pattern and sported my leopard heels.  I’m thinking this works!

While this could tackle work as well, I’m thinking all black calls for a girls night or a a date with my man.  Every once in awhile it is so fun to go back to my old ways and a monochromatic look!  The sweater from J. Crew Factory still has a few sizes remaining.  I also have it in red with gold dots and shown here and it is also on sale.   Of course the Stella & Dot rebel pendant always makes it’s own statement.

My pants are ponte leggings from White House Black Market.  I love them because they are comfortable and actually button and have pockets so they are more like a pant than leggings.  I always feel great when I wear them.  And what can I say….splurging on these Ugg boots during the anniversary sale was a total win.   They are so comfortable!

This purple dress made itself at home last February (similar here) and it has been a year round favorite.  Here is how I originally wore it here.  Pairing it together with the herringbone vest and a long forgotten scarf gave it new life.

  1. Love the black skirt/denim shirt combo but also love the wellies look! Who am I kidding…they are all fabulous! Per usual.

  2. So get this, I never even pulled mine out of the closet last year, I bought it from J.Crew in 2013 and barely wore it! Then like you, I started seeing it on everyone again this season especially on the blogs I was like yeah I'm gonna pull that baby out! You are one of the cutest ones I've seen back in this vest and I specially like it with the all black and the purple! Great inspiration!!

  3. I'm still searching for the right vest, you have given many great style ideas here and they all look great. Iwill be ssearching harder now!

  4. Thanks Andrea! I really, really had such a hard time with this one! I don't know why but I tried all the things others were doing and it just wasn't speaking to me. I'm super excited to finally find a few outfits I liked. Nothing I hate more than wasting money on something sitting in my closet unloved!

  5. Love all the ways you've styled your vest. I have the same vest and have worn it only once or twice so thank you for the outfit inspirations. Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you next week. Have a great weekend!
