Happy New Year – Bible Recap

·

Happy New Year! I hope this morning is finding you joyful about new beginnings. I’ve taken some time to not only look forward but to look back over the last year and decade and really embrace all the joy and the struggles we have seen. It makes me feel stronger and more capable of facing what may be to come and find contentment with today.

As 2019 began, I chose my word of the year to be Celebrate. I knew I would be turning 50 and I wasn’t really that excited about it. Finding a way to celebrate all things; the big things, the every day little things and all things in between was what I was longing for. I hoped that by the time October 19th rolled around I would be ready to fully celebrate my 50th year!

So, last week I read over my blog post from last January and while I did celebrate so many things in 2019, I fell short too. I’m thinking maybe it would have helped to keep that blog post printed out on my mirror to read every day!!

The one area I excelled in was celebrating my salvation. If you follow my instagram stories you may have seen me discuss this yesterday but I wanted to share this resource here as well. I jumped head first into reading the bible in a year on 1/1/19 and finished it up yesterday. It is something to celebrate!

If you have ever wanted to read the entire bible but found yourself getting stuck or giving up I can definitely relate. Until 2019 I would say I may have read two (yep that is the number 2) books of the bible all the way through. My foundation was so weak and if I’m honest I would alternate between begin majorly confused or bored and just could not focus.

So what changed in 2019? I found a chronological reading plan! Y’all, I didn’t even know until like 5 years ago that the Bible was not laid out chronologically! The reading plan partnered with the Bible Recap daily podcast gave me the encouragement I needed to keep going in 2019!

On Christmas day I gifted my oldest daughter the bible I used with all my highlights and notes. I handed it over with so much love and peace in my heart and I cannot wait to fill out a new bible for my oldest son in 2020 as I start over again today!

If reading the Bible is on your list, or better yet your heart, then here are the details on where to find the plan I’ll be following. I would love for you to join me! There is no pressure to finish in a year even though that’s the way it is laid out. The plan makes it easy to follow and know just where you left off. Truthfully there were times I fell behind in 2019 and it always seemed the day I picked it back up was just the day I was needing the exact message I was receiving! God’s timing…always perfect!

Head to Bible.com or download the You Version Bible app. Or you can click here to head straight to The Bible Recap reading plan and join me! Then head to The Bible Recap page to learn a little about the podcast as well and subscribe to the podcast wherever you typically listen to podcasts.

I’ve shared a version on the bible I used this past year as well as a little more masculine one I’ve ordered for 2020 along with some of the other tools I use on my Amazon storefront in case you are looking for something new. You don’t need a new bible to start this plan of course but I looked at it a little like starting a new workout plan…cute new clothes always help me get motivated! Ha!

Wishing you a blessed and content 2020!
