Hamburger Steak Made Easy

·
Simple Meals
We love eating at home and really try to do so often to keep our dining out dollars to a minimum. Thankfully my man is pretty simple.  Give him a little meat and potatoes and he’s a happy camper. Hamburger Steak is definitely a super easy go to meal when I need something hearty but quick.

I make 4 hamburger patties using 93% lean ground beef and add to a skillet to just quickly brown each side and then remove.  We love fresh mushrooms and onions with the hamburger steak so I slice these while browning the patties.

After removing the patties, I add a little EVOO to the skillet along with the mushrooms and onions and cook for 2 minutes just to soften a bit.

The patties are then popped back into the pan and a can of Golden Mushroom soup is spread on top.  I really think cream of mushroom would also work but this has seemed to be a favorite.

Cover and simmer for 20 mintues.

While I’m waiting (hey Holly) for the patties to savor, I toss some veggies with EVOO and some rosemary herb seasoning.  This night we had red potatoes, asparagus and broccoli.

These veggies were roasted at 400 degrees for about 25 minutes.

This night we also cut up a cantelope and added one of our new faves, Tajin seasoning.

Here is a quick look at the meat once it is ready!

I’m not sure this picture really does this meal justice.  It is totally one of our very favorites.  I would probably prefer “real” gravy but in a pinch this makes a really tasty sauce that doesn’t weigh you down.

I use the leftover veggies to make a super tasty salad the next day for lunch!  I would have never thought to add cold veggies to a salad before trying at a restaurant and it is so delish.

What meals do  you love to make in a pinch?

  1. I need to try this recipe! Mark and the kids are big meat and potato type people! When I make spaghetti for dinner Mark basically cringes. Lol

  2. This looks DELICIOUS!!! I love anything with meat and vegetables. Also, I'm talking about link-ups on my blog today and trying to get a list of favorites…either that you host or you like. I'd love for you to comment so I can add it to the list!

  3. Looks delicious. Loved the "while I'm waiting…" Cute touch for Holly. Adding cold vegetables is a given around here for leftovers on a salad. I cook beets and add them the next day – yum. Thanks for giving me dinner ideas this week at my party. Love having you

  4. Tony too. But he does have a major reflux issue so that is why. I love spaghetti and meatballs!!

  5. I make the Hellman's mayo chicken! The recipe is amazing and easy and I don't tell anyone I am using mayo and you can not tell. My husband, Pickiest Eater Ever, loves it and requests it every week….along with my panko salmon (which I am making tonight)….easy and healthy and good for you. How can you go wrong????

  6. So weird, I feel like I've been seeing that Tajin seasoning everywhere…or maybe I've been stalking you too much? Either way, what does it taste like? And this looks great! I've never heard of Golden Mushrooms, seems healthier than cream of mushroom. 🙂

  7. Me too Emily! I really don't mind cooking…it's the thinking of things to cook that realy get me. I hate not having any input from the family. I successfully made dinner 3 nights this week though so maybe…just maybe…I'll be back on track!

  8. The Tajin's seasoning is just kind of tangy Sarah…..like a lime-ish tang but also with a little spice. It's definitely not something that everyone will love but my family really does. I don't know if the Golden is healthier than the plain or not but it's just a little different.
