Grateful Heart Monday
Today I’m feeling so grateful for other women. Grateful for their thoughtfulness, their wisdom, their grace (and I’m not talking about the physical walking like a super model grace). I think as women many of us may have spent much of our life sizing ourselves up to some other female. I know for sure I am guilty as charged! In recent years I have been able to see more beauty in women and embrace our differences as just that instead of always trying to size myself up against others. We all have inner struggles, we all have our seasons of crazy but we all have huge hearts that want to love and be loved even if we may show it in different ways.
As women we have so many opportunities to mentor and love on other women. When you see that mom dropping off her kids at school who looks like she’s just about to lose it take a moment to give her a quick hug and some encouraging words. If you are checking out at Target and the sales person is less than friendly and even a little short, give her some grace as you don’t know what may be going on in her life. Pick out a Starbucks card or even just a candy bar and run back through her line to let her know you are praying her day is better. If someone has blessed your life in the past and you have always wanted to thank them, send them a personal letter and let them know!! Open your eyes and look around and I promise you will find one person every day who is just searching for someone to love on them. Don’t hesitate next time…be the one who reaches out and changes their day.
I was so blessed this past Friday by 3 special ladies. They took time out of their day to think of me and by doing so gave me a full and happy heart all day long.
I received this sweet homemade mug and my very favorite coffee delivered to me at my office! This friend pays attention…..she knows while I will have a Starbucks here and there that McDonalds plain old black coffee is my absolute favorite.
And when I arrived hone late Friday night I found this fun card in the mail. A “real” card!! With a handwritten note inside from a friend who noticed how much I love receiving “real” mail. This was totally unexpected and warmed my heart so much!
I’m not gonna lie….making some cupcakes with my kids is one of my favorite things to do. A sweet friend was thoughtful enough to drop off this basket so now all I have to do is make the time!
I am so, so grateful for thoughtful people like this in my life.
This is such a great post! I think the older I have gotten the easier it has been for me to give people "grace" and see people with loving eyes! The last 6 months I have made it a goal of mine to follow through when God puts someone on my heart! Just as you said even if it's a card or something small, it makes a world of difference!! 🙂 Happy Monday!
I definitely find that to be true for me. I think as we have more life experiences for ourselves and know how hard life can really be day in and day out it is so much easier to let something slide and offer some grace.
This is so good. I love that you brought up the salesperson who was 'less than friendly' – you just don't know what people are going through. (And why do we often times feel like we need to know what's going on? As if extending kindness can't just be enough). Loved this, Shelly, and I'm so glad you have thoughtful, strong women in your life!
Wonderful words!!! You know this is my love language but there are always, always ways I can learn to do more. One of my favorites is the part about the salesperson – not always an easy one to remember – but oh, so worth it when you see that smile slowly form on their face! Wonderful post! Thanks for sharing your heart! Love you!
I love this post! You are such an incredible lady!
