Girls Weekend – Keeping it Colorful
We headed for Girls Weekend over spring break with our besties and what a fun time! Taking pictures posing with your best friend helps keep the memories alive and we definitely found the best backgrounds to create a colorful weekend!
Wall art seems to be all the rage these days and it is not hard to find something fun in just about any city you visit; big or small. We found perfect backdrops everywhere we went!
Waco – Starry Night – 1000 Columbus Avenue
These two are just so much fun! They loved the starry night wall even though the wind was creating a few challenges. Holden definitely had me reminiscing about my denim overalls days and Carly was ready for all the walking with her new Nikes.
Waco – 808 Austin Ave – On the side of Hey Sugar
These girls look so cute because they are so confident! There is no thinking or worrying about standing just so or hairs out of place. I always learn something when I spend time with them.
Mural on the side of The Findery
The moms also got in on the posing action! It was a typical Texas spring day with the temperatures ranging from warm to a bit of a chill. Holly’s camo pants look so comfy! I searched and found this pair at an online boutique which are very similar. I love how she layered a denim shirt over a plain tee. I chose my boyfriend jeans (similar) and loafers made for a day on my feet. As much as I love button downs on others, a popover style works much better for me. I love this one from J. Crew Factory but also thinking this pink stripe from Talbots is adorable.
Dallas – 1804 McMillan – Outside of High Fives
This one was killing me with her little poses! I wish I had bought this top in every color when I found it. It really has been the perfect top to wear all year long. She wore last month with dark jeans and a black jacket but for spring she added her denim vest with white jeans. How cute is this little top? This age might do me in! She definitely has her own idea of what is cute and I honestly envy her as being comfortable is still her #1 priority.
How cute does Holden look in this little off the shoulder top? As the day carried on we began to think white jeans was not the best idea!
It’s easy being best friends when you know each other’s true heart.
Of course a good friend will always carry you through when you aren’t quite yourself. Loving their fringy sandals. Carly was borrowing a pair from Holden but I’m thinking I need to order this cute pair for her to try
Spring layers have definitely been my favorite lately and I loved this fuschia and green together.
I pushed these shoes a little too far and they made me pay but right up until then we were best friends! We all put our white pants through the ringer this day but I googled some stain fighting tips and ended up using both alcohol and peroxide and mine look brand new again.
So fun doing life with this momma! I was glad to see this cute chambray top looked so cute on her since I loved it but ended up returning mine. I did order a very similar scarf from Gap I know will also be a favorite.
Is it crazy that when I see this I want to say “wonder twins activate?” There is definitely more power together!
We did lots of fun sightseeing but these girls remember most the laughs on the car ride!! I know we are making memories to last a lifetime and having the opportunity to go away with our daughters for a little fun is such a blessing. They are funny but I love they are not uncomfortable with silence. They are so much alike yet so different just like their mom and me. I hope they find a way to always recognize their strengths and choose to accept each other just the way they are. I definitely see the world in a more colorful way when they are around!
Do you have friends in your life who brighten your world? Plan a girls weekend today!

Awwww, this post warms my heart! I love seeing the beautiful colors and the beauty of true friendship! How awesome!
These girls know how to do it right Kellyann! They have been fun to watch.
Awe cute girls…all four! I feel like I have stared down several of those pieces at our local Justice. You know while I spend a whole weekend in there awaiting my child to make decisions and then go through everything one more time to make sure she didn’t miss anything.
Oh how I wish Carly Jo was that way! She doesn’t care for shopping and we are now at the age that Justice isn’t cool anymore but where the heck do you shop?? Seriously the clothes for “tweens” are lacking.
This was the perfect start to my day! LOVE!!!
These girls make my heart happy.
Beautiful! And I can totally recreate your outfit!
yea! I always love when that happens. Hope you have a super weekend Mireille.
These pictures make me happy! You rocked finding all the colorful walls! I have a Talbot’s popover top and absolutely love it. Also, Dillard’s is such a great place for both older girls and juniors clothes. I am so sad that I have missed some of your posts this week! Your posts are not showing up on my blogroll sidebar OR on my Feedly reader. Wonder what’s up? Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks for letting me know Tanya. Still figuring all this stuff out….I thought she fixed some of the redirects. Katy had to actually change from my blogger address to the new domain (http://www.thequeeninbetween.com) in her sidebar and I just looked and hers is pulling the most up to date. Ugh…technology!! If it could all be easy! I definitely know you aren’t the only one because I have seen a decrease in readers since switching but hoping it will all work itself out eventually.
Oh, I just love all of these sweet photos! I know you had a wonderful weekend. So many fantastic walls, too.
Hey, I emailed your designer over a week ago about designing a blog logo and still haven’t received a response. I think the email was thefarmerandthebelle@gmail.com Should I be sending it somewhere else?
Thanks for linking up and have a wonderful weekend, Shelly!
Thank you Jennie!
Try using karli@karlibell.com which is her business email (i think). I think the other is her blog email so it may have gotten buried with other comments. She typically responded to me quickly and she was easy to work with.
One of the things I miss about not having a daughter is weekends like this. Looks like you all had so much fun!
I know Lana…I am not looking forward to this one deciding she no longer wants to hang with me. I miss my oldest as even though she lives in town she is definitely busy with her own little social calendar.
These wall photos are the best ever! SO cute and so much fun. I hope to go on girl trips like this someday.
Super cute dresses! And such amazing background

We had so much fun with all the wall art!
Ahh I am so jealous of all of this wall art!! I wish I lived closer to an area that had walls this colorful! Looks like a lot of fun and I love your military style vest! Thank you for sharing with us at On Mondays We Link-Up, Shelly!! 🙂

Trendy & Tidy
Me too Sarah! Heck, I just wish I lived close enough to a pretty street. Rounding up one of my non-paid photographers and dragging them around is no fun. 🙂 Thanks for hosting!
This looks like such a fun girls weekend! I’m a big street art fan and you sure found some great ones. How cute are the girls in their pics together?! These are such great memories they will be able to look back and cherish. And, I love that you were in Waco! I also love the mix of your fuchsia and green together. Beautifully Candid
Adorable, fun weekend, bet you all had a ball. Super backdrop for your photos. Jacqui
