Fruit Salad With a Secret
Today I’m linking up with Andrea for the Momfessionals Recipe Club.
I have a fail proof fruit salad that is perfect for Easter brunch or lunch. My Meme always made this fruit salad and everyone, adults and kids, always came back for seconds.
This fruit salad starts out like any other by gathering your favorite fruits! I will be listing the fruits we use but other options would work too.
2-3 bananas
1 large can of mandarin oranges
1 large can pineapple chunks
1 carton strawberries
My grandmother often used frozen strawberries if she made this during a time of the year when the strawberries were not the best but I almost always use fresh strawberries.
Drain the mandarin oranges and pineapple and combine in your bowl. Cut the strawberries and bananas into chunks. It is then time to add the secret ingredient that makes this salad so yummy; peach pie filling! Empty the can, stir all the ingredients together before covering and chilling in the refrigerator.
Find a beautiful bowl and set a reminder for yourself to actually pull the fruit salad out of the fridge! I made this salad for Thanksgiving this year only to find it still in the fridge when we returned home from dinner with friends. Bad memory or good strategy? I’ll never tell!
I hope to host brunch or lunch on Easter Sunday depending on which service we decide to attend and this will definitely be on my menu. I can’t wait to see what other fun recipes I may find through this link up!

Do the bananas brown if you make it the night before?
-Bradley Lindsey
I have mad this fruit salad the night before and if the bananas are really firm they will make it. I think the peach pie filling helps to preserve them for a bit. I have been able to serve this to my kids the next day before the bananas have gotten too mushy. If in doubt mix everything else and refrigerate and then add the bananas just before serving.
