Friday Favorites
I for one am super duper excited it’s Friday! After heading out of town last weekend the week has just been off. We are out of coffee AND laundry detergent and I feel like I’ve barely been home. We do have baseball this weekend but it is nearby so I hope to be able to knock out a few of those necessary tasks at the house and make it to buy some food!
Here are some of my favorites from the week!
Favorite Pin||I pinned these burgers this week and I’m dying to try them! I’ve only used ground chicken a handful of times but I’m really thinking this would be easy to prepare and have for my lunches during the week.
Favorite Spin||I love a good outfit recreation and Carylee over at More Pieces of Me is always giving me so many ideas I can create with items in my very own closet! I typically do not feel like I can wear a belt for whatever reason but this should be proof you should always give a new spin a try at least once. I loved wearing this outfit! At the very least you should go give Carylee a follow on Instagram @carylee07. Be sure to follow along with my instagram @queeninbetween to see so many of my outfits which never maker it over to the blog.
Favorite Win||At Texas A&M our dining is handled by Chartwells and on Thursday a few of us had the opportunity to head over to the main dining hall on campus and participate in a little work behind the scenes. This group is a winning combination….oh…and the cauliflower crust wasn’t so bad either!
We made cauliflower pizza and a turkey meatloaf which replace half the meat with chopped mushrooms. The meatloaf was my favorite! Glad we managed to make it through without being kicked out…..we tend to be a little bit on the politically incorrect side at times but shhhh…don’t tell!
Favorite Gin||If you aren’t familiar with this face then you know nothing about country music! Merle Haggard is one of my very favorites EVER. So many of his songs bring back memories of my dad and even my parents relationship. Much to my surprise I married a guy who has a country soul much older than his age and we rode many a mile in his truck when we were dating listening to a little Merle and wondering how I was gonna settle the Ramblin Fever in that boy’s heart! In memory of Merle here are my very favorites….do yourself a favor and look them up!
That’s the Way Love Goes
Are the Good Times Really Over
Ramblin Fever
It’s Been a Great Afternoon (no really…this is a must!)
I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink
Mama Tried
If We Make it Through December
Misery & Gin
If We’re Not Back in Love by Monday
Let’s Chase Each Other Around the Room
You will just have to trust me…if Merle has not been in your music arsenal you need to take care of that today!
Favorite Line|| (Okay so I ran out of rhymes) Do you guys have teenagers? Are you as lost as I am most days on the latest acronyms? This “Who’s on First” rendition between me and Dillon this past week really had me cracking up. WYM…I seriously just thought that was a damn typo!! Nope….now I’m “in the know”. Funniest part was when I responded and told him how bad boys were at communicating he responded “your fault for not being up to date”. I seriously wish I could have been angry but I couldn’t quit laughing.
So excited to be having lunch with Holly today! I couldn’t believe when I received a text Thursday morning noting that we had not exchanged texts since Monday. That seriously has to be some sort of record.
Wishing you all the very best weekend!

Seriously cracking up at your texts with Dillon. I know that's happened to us before! How fun that you got to make cauliflower pizza and turkey meatloaf. Those both sound like they are up my alley! And i'll wait 'til you tell us how that avo burger is before I try it 🙂
Looking forward to lunch today too!!! I can't believe it's been so long! What's wrong with us?!
Chef Shelly…Love it!!! I love my old school country as much as today's, so sad about Merle and died on his birthday. Classic crooner for sure! Oh girl can I ever relate to that text!! I hope your weekend is relaxing and spectacular!! Have a fun lunch today too!!
OMG! I just blew Diet Coke through my nose about that text!! Seriously, Shelly! I'm right there with you! Steph is keeping me young! And I'm having lunch today with my Bestie who I WILL be featuring on Tuesday!!
I've heard really good things about cauliflower crust pizza!
Can't wait to hear how the burgers turn out, and you are too cute in your chef's hat! Love the outfit recreation, you look perfect. Hope you had a great lunch!!
You'll have to let us know how those burgers turn out – they look so good! I love old country and was so sad to hear about Merle. He was definitely one of my favorites. Have a great weekend! -xx Leah || Chasing Texas
You always look adorable no matter what or how you wear it! Have a great weekend !!!
Thank you sweet lady! Hope yo have a super weekend!
Cannot wait to try them out! The hubby and I sat on the back patio and listened to Merle with a beer last night….great music.
Thanks Amy! Hope you have a great weekend!
It was tasty but nothing like real pizza. You can't really use sauce either but I would definitely eat it. Hope you have a super weekend.
Yea for lunch with our besties! Hope you have a super weekend!
Boys are the worst at the communicating aren't they Andrea? So funny….I think with texting it has just gotten harder. Hope you have a super weekend.
It was perfect! So happy we made some time even if it was kind of crazy.
Molly I think you would love the meatloaf!! The recipe subbed 1/2 the turkey with chopped mushrooms. I definitely will give my review on the avocado burgers!
Those burgers look great! Might have to try them myself, avocados were on special the other week, maybe they still are 🙂
Hope you got everything done this weekend!

When it comes to layering, Cary's like my god. She's the layer whisperer GRIN but I do think you did beautifully yourself, Shelly. I'm not much a fan of belts myself so I'm always appreciative of other women who pull it off with panache 🙂
And speaking of being stylish, my link-up, Project Sister Act, is currently live, Shelly, and I would love for you to come over, truly xoxo

Oh goodness that outfit recreation looks so good on you. I am loving utility vests right now and think I need to look for one. Those burgers look amazing too. Avocado make EVERYTHING better. I use a lot of ground turkey too. I bet that would work as well.
I definitely think a utility vest is a necessity. 🙂 And yes….avocado and anything makes me happy. Definitely think ground turkey would work.
Haha….I love that….the layer whisperer! I find so much inspiration from her posts.
Thanks for reminding me of the linkup….I'm pretty sure I've already added to my link love list but I will double check!
Right? I mean you understand why I was so lost. Kids….it's hard to keep up these days.
I am totally hoping to make them this week. Avocados have been kind of hit or miss here lately and really finding some that aren't over ripe has been a struggle. Hope you have a great week!
