Friday Favorites

·

I was really hopeful when I woke up this morning the horrid burned smell would be gone but no such luck.  Yesterday my girl decided to make an individual mac & cheese in the microwave only she forgot to add the water.  Y’all, the smell is awful.  I feel like it’s covering everything in the house and even my clothes so if you have any good tips other than airing out the house I would love to hear.

I have been on one of those mind treadmills this week where my brain seems to be running in circles but nothing is really coming out and I just can’t seem to get enough sleep.  Hoping to find some balance this weekend!
Enough of the downers…let’s get on to some favorites!
My daddy would have celebrated his 70th birthday today!  He was definitely on of my favorites and it is hard to believe it’s been almost 12 years since he passed away.  This is exactly how I remember him; smirky smile, coffee in hand.
I had dinner with my grown up girl on Wednesday and we were a little photo challenged trying to take a bathroom selfie.  We don’t look much alike but the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.  She was super excited to show off her journal and tell me all about bullet journaling.  We also talked about having her possibly do a little guest post over here on the blog.  She also was approved to adopt a dog so I may become a grandmother soon!  It’s so fun seeing your kids develop into adults!
The guys finished the kids bathroom tile work yesterday and I was super excited with the end result. This bathroom tile wasn’t in need of replacing as bad as ours but we knew there had been some water damage and the faucets were in desperate need of replacement.

Here was the tile before which was not awful and still fairly easy to keep clean.  Amazing how taking the tile up to the ceiling made this space look larger.

But ewww…..look at what was behind the wall.  After the demo this room smelled awful.  I’m glad to know this is no longer lurking behind my wall.

When a picture from last April popped up on my timehop of these ladies we could not believe a complete year had passed since we had come together so of course we had to take care of that immediately.  We all met through the elementary school and then started running together to train for the BCS half marathon.  Nothing will bond you like 5am runs in the 30 degree wind.  Such a great night and lots of laughing.
I know you all know these two but they are seriously the first bloggers I really started following and they have this fun new series.  I was seriously blown away at how fun talking about 3 little things was going to be.  See my choices here and be sure to join us on the trip the rest of the year to see what all we end up taking!
Today I’m excited about having lunch with a friend I haven’t seen in too long and then I will be heading to my home town at some point to see my sweet niece make her first communion on Sunday.
Hope you all have a super weekend!

  1. Noooooooo….Oh, Carly! Poor Baby! We had some friends whose son did the same thing, but I think they caught it in time because they didn't talk nearly as bad about it as you have. I'm at a loss for what to tell you to do. Open those windows and turn on the fans!! Sweet, sweet picture of your daddy and the bathroom looks amazing! Have a great weekend!

  2. That bathroom transformation is amazing! It reminds me I have so many house projects on my to do list. I just need more time…like everyone else haha. I totally think you should have your daughter do a guest post. I'd love to hear from one of your bigs!

  3. I have done the same thing with a thing of noodles. That's the last time I tried to make one of those haha.

  4. I love the new bathroom tile! And I LOVE my bullet journal. I've been using it for almost a year and it totally keeps me on track/organized! Have a great weekend. Stopping by from H54F!

  5. The bathroom looks awesome! I love the pics of you and your daughter, too. As stressful as raising girls can be (my oldest is 16), it pays off to know you have a life long friend. Oh, and Erika & Shay (& Sheaffer) were the first blogs I followed, too! Have a great weekend!

  6. Thanks Emily! So true…daughters grow up to be the best friends. It's been fun (although sometimes heartbreaking too) having an adult daughter. I actually am pretty sure I initially found Erika & Shay from PTMT…but quickly figured I identified so much more with the two of them. The blog world is such a crazy place!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

  7. I seriously am so incredibly excited for the coming week! Our shower has been grossing me out and becoming worse and worse in the past two years. I've been saving for this for years and I just know it's going to make such a difference.

  8. Sooooo many projects on my list. I seriously am not even planning to do much myself and just can't even find the time to meet with people for estimates. I keep saying if I could just take a full week off from work while the kids are also in school I think I could knock so much out but geez….I don't want to waste my vacation not on vacation!! haha

  9. Almost done Candice…..this week will be the master shower. Thankfully the counter tops are already done and the cabinets have all been repainted. I don't know how people live through major renovations house wide. I wouldn't make it.

  10. Girl….the smell is awful and I'm beginning to think I will never get it out of the microwave. We may end up having to replace it. Poor Carly was sligthly traumatized that she "almost burned down our house". haha….glad she did not.

  11. Whoa that tile looks amazing and YES! I know exactly how it feels to know exactly what is behind the wall and that the old is gone. We gutted a bathroom once and it was VERY eye opening :/.
