Joining Erika & Andrea sharing my favorite summer memories!
Our very last Friday of summer and this girl has the day off! To top that off we have no plans and the forecast is mostly cloudy so it is very possible we are going to add a pajama day to our “Not So Bummer Summer”.
In May I decided that this year instead of making a list of all the things the kids wanted to do, we would instead be spontaneous (somewhat) and keep track of all the things we actually did do. Here is a flashback of our
Not So Bummer Summer!
{Go Places}
Our summer started in Fort Worth watching TCU Baseball and spending time with cousins at the Fort Worth Zoo! The zoo just had lion cub triplets which were so adorable and new giraffes were born in March & April..Willie & Waylon of course.
We traveled to Omaha, Nebraska to watch the TCU Horned Frogs continue their season!
We were there an entire week so we had plenty of time for some fun! You can read all about the fun things to do in Omaha with
Part 1 and
Part 2. After three summers in a row of traveling to Omaha I think we had the most fun this year.
And recently took at trip down to the coast to spend the day with my brother and his family at Matagorda Beach.
{Bake Some Blessings}
The summer really got away from us and we didn’t do nearly as much of this as I would have loved to do! We did bake cookies for the officers and staff at the university police department, took dinner to two families and baked a breakfast casserole for the back to school teacher breakfast.
{Make Memories With Friends}
Success! Making memories with our friends was definitely some of our favorite times!
The McBerty’s joined us for the Super Regionals in Fort Worth
B-I-N-G-O family night
Swimming
Summer Art Camp with the cousins
Bengal Belle Camp
Fishing
Teen Night almost EVERY week at Grand Station
Painting the kids blue for free food at our local Blue Baker
Volunteering at the Foodbank
Dillon played 7 on 7 and two baseball tourneys
U Paint It Art Camp
I have had a great summer with friends both old and new! I have been able to spend lots of time with my friends who live near but also was able to catch up with friends from high school and college. I even managed to meet some new friends through an awesome bible study.
{Create Family Memories}
This day was definitely a big one for our family and one none of us will ever forget!
Carly spent two weeks with my mom and was able to spend lots of time with her cousin Morgan. I love that my kids have all gotten the chance to spend one on one time with my mom.
Time spent on the water with his dad is definitely a memory this boy will always hold close!
We also had a few little “inside” family memories that would really probably not read very funny but we have written them down for future reference!
{Eat Some Treats}
This summer may be best remembered as the summer we survived with no Blue Bell ice cream! Somehow we managed to find enough special treats to keep us going.
Fancy desserts
Lazy weekend breakfast with homemade waffles
Cheese trays!!
National Hot Dog day
Grilling anything is my favorite for summer
Watermelon..yes please!
Homemade ice cream – Butterfinger was our favorite
Even Dutch had a special doggie cake to celebrate his 1st birthday
Popsicles
Lunches with Mimi
I wanted to take my kids to do something fun the past two days and both declined and were happy to just stay home. To me that is a sign of a summer done right! We had some good times and are relaxed and renewed and ready to start the school year Monday with a bang!
Hope you have all had an amazing summer! Check out who I’m linking with here.

What an Awesome Summer!!! Great memories!!
Sad for it to come to an end but ready to make some new memories with a fresh school year. Have a great week Katie!
I loved looking back at your summer! Some great memories and happy that we got to be apart of so many of them!
kids not wanting to go out is definitely a sign that they've had lot of fun this summer! Looks like you guys were super busy but had tons of fun!
I loved the idea of your not-bummer-summer, and it looks like it was a great one. I feel your pain with no Bluebell this summer. Our family is counting the days til it's Aug 31 return to Houston grocery stores. My kids were also happy to just hang around at home the last few days, so I think we are all ready for the first day of school. Also, love how you summarized your whole summer in photo collages. Have a relaxing weekend!!
Enjoy some R & R this weekend and wishing you a successful school year. Where has the time gone.
Sounds like the kind of summer your kids will always remember and want to recreate with their own kids one day!
I'm relatively new to central Texas and was wondering if you could do a post on Fall craft shows, festivals and flea markets that you enjoy. I'd love it and bet others would , too
