Friday Favorites – Splurge or Save

·
Here we are once again and it’s Friday!  The days have been warmer and the days staying lighter longer which only means spring is near.  Spring always has me wanting to change things up and tackle a few projects around the house.  Of course I’m also on the lookout for the perfect summer sandal and an Easter dress.  I thought it would be fun to do a little Splurge vs. Save on a few items I’ve had my eye on lately.
You can also use the code MARCH at Target for 10% off home items or 15% off when you spend $125 this week!  This post does contain affiliate links.
I saw this doormat from Pottery Barn in someones Instagram and while it is cute I remembered seeing something similar in Target.  I love this one just as much for more than half the price….even if it might ruffle old Donald Trumps hair.

We totally need new lamps for our bedside tables and after seeing Cassie’s console table post I am also dreaming up some changes there.  I love the look of this lamp from West Elm but this similar one at Target had great reviews and is so much cheaper!
I don’t know what my deal is lately but just #givemeallthepillows!  Maybe because I haven’t been able to decide on new couches but I am loving adding a fun touch with a simple throw pillow.  The tassel look is definitely in too.  This is when I really wish I would have taken that home eco class and learned to sew!! Here are few pillows I found that I love.

Sam Edelman sandals are always worth the splurge but these Sam and Libby at Target definitely could make a case for a great looking sandal.
I saw this dress from Adalyn Rae at Nordstrom and it caught my eye but I could not justify the price just for a few wears.  This dress, however, I grabbed with a Cartwheel deal 29% off earlier this week and it is super cute.  Much, much longer than it appears as I am 5’7″ and it hit me just above the knee.  I purchased a large because that is all they had and it is unfortunately too big.  Hoping I can find it to try in a medium.  Right now the Exhilaration brand is BOGO 50% off so I’ve also included this cute cold shoulder top.  I also ordered this but it has not come in to try yet.
So I’m curious, what are the items you choose to splurge on?  For me I will probably pay a little more for shoes because I definitely want them to be comfortable and last.  I also don’t mind splurging on great denim sometimes.  When it comes to things around the house I try not to splurge too much on decorator items so I can save enough to splurge on quality furniture (when I can make up my mine).
I’m headed to the Brazos Valley Fashion Week show tonight with a friend to check out some spring fashion and support a great cause.  Tomorrow Texas A&M is continuing the week of honoring staff with a day at Kyle field so Carly Jo and I along with her friend Holden are going to check that out while Dillon & Keith head to Katy for baseball.  Sunday we will be back to Katy for more baseball so it looks like the weekend will be full.
Hope you all have a super weekend….cheers!

  1. Man, Target is just the best. I definitely prefer the Hola/Adios mat to the more expensive one- I need to find it at my store!

  2. Great picks. I am specially drawn to the doormats. My neighbor's niece came up recently to my door to tell me that my doormat needed an upgrade !

  3. Basketball, baseball fashion sounds like the perfect weekend to me and oh my Target for the win-win win! All kinds of goodies there right now! I hope your weekend is as glorious and beautiful as you are!

  4. I'm all about the save's…super cute stuff and just like the higher end things. I do admit that as I've gotten older I prefer to put a little more money into better shoes. There really is a difference in quality, especially if it is something I will be wearing a lot.

It sounds like you're going to be in my neck of the woods this weekend. I would come say hi, but we're going to be rodeo-ing all day Sunday. Next time!

  5. Definitely would say I splurge on shoes. I love Sam Edelman flats, booties and sandals. I also splurged several years ago and bought Tieks. If you have never heard of them, google them. Best money for shoes I ever spent. I have the matte black and cardinal matte red ones. I asked for a pair for my birthday so will be anxious to see if Tony buys them for me. I have never once regretted spending what I spent on them! I can wear them all day long and they wear fantastically !!!

  6. What a fun post!! Target is always a go to spot for me. I really try to avoid wandering around in the home section when I'm there because there is SO MUCH to be tempted by! Those lamps will definitely need to be added to my list. So pretty.

  7. I have been doing a lot of shopping online and picking up at the store….I get in so much trouble wandering around in that store!!! I totally have got to make a decision about lamps…such a hard thing to choose for me for some reason.

  8. I definitely agree on the shoes. Every once in awhile I can find a comfy pair at Target but for most of my shoes it's worth the splurge.

We were in Katy but I totally would have rather been at the rodeo!! I'm so sad it's not going to work for us this year.
