Friday Favorites – Back to School for Tweens
Happy Friday! The weekend started early for me as I took a day off and plan to head to visit my family in my hometown for the weekend. On the list is organizing my Mamaw’s closet at the assisted living home. I know, I know don’t be jealous! We are beginning to think about back to school even though we have a somewhat late start this year as my kids don’t head back until the 28th! Carly Jo is on the ball though and keeping me on my toes to make sure she is organized and ready to go on day one! Here are a few of the things my tween is loving for back to school!
We have tried multiple different backpacks but these have really held up the best. She skipped the monogram this year and we don’t agree on patterns (or much of anything lately) but this has already shipped so we are ahead of the game! Plus, great sale going on right now so two thumbs up.
I think Carly was most excited about her lunch break when we picked up her schedule! Last year she had lunch before 11:00 and she was not a fan. This year with a more reasonable lunch break at 11:45, I think she will definitely be ready to eat. We love the bento style lunches and I think these containers will work perfectly. We tried out the Neoprene Lunch Tote last year and I really love them. They are easy to keep clean and are some watch flexible and stretchy. We have this exact one and even though it was given lots of lunch love, I was able to toss it in the washer and it looked like new. I also find these ice packs to be the most durable and they fit just perfectly in the door of our freezer.

What tween or teen girl won’t have a better day with an adorable and organized locker? I’m loving all the fun locker decor! Definitely stepping it up a notch with wallpaper and this faux light or this chandelier but also keeping her organized with the weekly planner and essentials pockets. I also love the magnetic frames for remembering your besties and the great summer memories! All so cute and ALL on sale!
Minted also has some super cute notebooks which can be personalized in multiple ways including your own photos. These make a simple journaling book but also have the option to add monthly or weekly calendar views. It’s never too early to teach your littles about the art of planning. Plus it helps me practice what I preach because my little for sure will remind me I need to stay on task! Speaking of organizing, Minted also has labels perfect for marking clothes, shoes and supplies like lunch boxes and backpacks.
What are your Tweens loving for back to school this year?

Ha! I’m glad Carly’s ready to go back! Don’t even mention next Wednesday to Alise! She is in total denial and this mama is, too! Have fun with Mamaw! I see a shopping trip in y’alls future!!
I think Carly Jo is just in it for the lunch and her friends lol. She decided to do competition dance this year so she is getting to do out of school PE..also her favorite. And Mamaw…lordy girl say some prayers for me! I ordered slimline hangers and I’m going to try to get her all organized so if she wants to go shopping we actually know what to buy her!! She constantly wants new bras but I swear she’s buying the wrong size!
I have a 6th grader and yes, the locker decor is most important! I prefer to buy the Jansport backpacks that are supposed to last forever, but of course my daughter cannot go back to school with the same backpack from last year! I like the durability of them though since she has to carry around the biggest binder ever! I will have to check out the lunch tote since that’s something we still need to get. I’m also trying to get her to use a planner to stay organized.
I’m definitely on board with the Jansport and pretty sure that’s what Dillon will be getting! Hope you have a super weekend Nancy!
You just have a ball organizing your Mamaw’s closet…you are a wonderful granddaughter. I love Carly Jo’s backpack and that locker is so cute. (I believe the word my daughter would use to describe it is EXTRA…has Carly Jo started using that yet??? Just wait, it’s coming. LOL) Have a great weekend. XO
Girl….the last time I cleaned out her closet she had like 36 pair of shoes!! And she only wears one pair all the time. Definitely need to pray for my patience. 🙂
Yes to PB book bags! I totally talked about them on my blog today too! I cannot sing their praises enough!
I finally found some cute bento boxes that were CDN shipping friendly- makes me kinda excited to make lunches!
Deena I’m not sure I will ever get excited about lunches….and sadly I don’t even make them. Just the making sure they have plenty of things to choose from makes me crazy!
Love those lunch boxes- gosh I hope my kids eat at a decent time- 10:55 was my school lunch time last year! What the heck!?! No wonder kids are starving when they get home at 4 pm! Hope you all have a nice visit to your hometown!
I LOVE PB Backpacks. I have seen a wide range of backpacks and these always last the longest. And kids are hard on their lunch boxes and backpacks so if it can last more than a year it is GOLD. Have a good visit to your hometown and Mamaw’s this weekend.
That locker is AMAZING. I once had a locker that was crazy fun and covered completely with all kinds of stuff. However it wasn’t nearly as chic as that. That is so cool. I had no idea that kind of stuff existed.
We are already back to school since last week and as much as I hate sending them all back I must say shopping for school supplies and girls is just too much fun! I love taking olivia and her picking out all the adorable cute girly supplies. Hope your kiddos have a great year when they go back
We are so late this year Kimm! I’m kind of glad but at the same time kind of ready to be back on our routine. The kids pretty much stayed home while I worked this summer and that gives them lots of time to mess up my house. LOL
