Friday Favorites – Mothers Day

· · ·
It is May y’all…May!  For any of you young ones out there I’m telling you it really is true, the older you get the faster the time passes.
I decided since it is just a week away I would share some of my very favorite Mothers Day picks!

{ONE}

Who doesn’t like a fun gift for Mother’s Day?  These gifts are all under $50 and an easy way to show mom a little love.
Gift Ideas
Reef Flip Flops – I actually purchased these when they were on sale for $20 and they are perfect for summer!  Every time I have worn them I have received compliments.  They also have a great arch support which was a plus for flip flops.
Kate Spade Stud Earrings – I love these studs…love them!  They come in several colors and Nordstrom is still price matching for under $30.
BP Reversible Vegan Tote – comes in 3 colors and under $50.
Floral Foldover – I actually found this bag in a post by Kristi at Making it in the Mountains.  I am loving the Indigo site…lots of fun stuff.  I’m definitely not opposed to purchasing my own Mother’s Day gift and this is definitely a contender for $28 as is this cute little pouch or wait…maybe this one!
Mom mug – I’m a little disappointed this one sold out before I even had a chance to share!  I bought this mug for my mom for her birthday….so perfect!  I’ve linked a similar mug that is probably appropriate for all moms.

{TWO}

Flowers…..no explanation needed.  I love flowers no matter what kind or where they are from I do not discriminate.  Love…them….all!
Mother's Day
I love fresh flowers presented in a vase or even just the bag straight from the store.  Why yes I did create this using the Word Swag app….if you haven’t discovered this fun app visit my tutorial here!

Or I’m just as excited about a hanging basket or potted plant.

{THREE}

Homemade gifts are definitely my favorites!  I have an entire box full of all the homemade things my kids have made over the years and I love going back through and seeing their handwriting or even their handprints.  Gifts directly from the heart hold more value than anything those sweeties could buy me.
 Even when they draw a picture of me drinking wine as part of the school organized Mother’s Day gift!  You can’t tell from this picture but the entire border was little wine glasses.  Oops!

{FOUR}

Prayers!  This is definitely something moms need all year long and it is so easy and doesn’t take too much time.  If you have special friends who are moms, send a sweet note and let them know you are rooting for them and keeping them on your prayer list.  Being a mom is tough stuff.  I am often torn between wanting to be everything to everyone and feeling so overwhelmed and under appreciated.  I ran across a post on Instagram by Lysa TerKeurst on Tuesday and like so many things it happened at the perfect time after one of those mornings when I had not really been the mom I long to be.  You have the option to sign up for 5 days of mom prayers and so far it has been so good for my soul.  It is always just so reassuring to know I’m not alone in the way I’m feeling.  Here is the original blogpost from last May.  If you struggle with feeling like you are not quite hitting the mark when it comes to being a mom even though you are trying so very hard, I would totally encourage you to sign up.  If you need prayers please feel free to comment and I will be happy to add you to my prayer list as well.  We all can use extra prayers in this momma life.

{FIVE}

The last thing on my list would be some time for me.  Bonus if that time comes with a gift certificate for a pedicure or a massage that would definitely help me relax a little.  Some quiet time to do some reading and reflecting or a great dinner that you don’t have to plan or prepare are also a super treat.
I’m hoping I will have a chance for a pedicure with my new favorite OPI polish in Mod About You!
I’ve talked a little before about expectations and I spent so much of my life being disappointed after waiting and anticipating something special that was never to be.  If you want a special day it is up to you to create it!

If your mom loves accessories be sure to check out my {Favorite Things} post from earlier this week!

  1. I just purchased a pair of reef flip flops after nearly a decade of going without. I remember them being really comfy when I last wore them (10 years ago) so I am looking forward to breaking in my new pair over the summer! Great gift ideas! So glad I found you on Andrea's link up!

    1. I remember back when I was a single mom wishing and dreaming about a pair of $30 reefs..haha. I bought my first pair about 10 years ago and I still have them. I wore these all last weekend and they were amazing. Have a great weekend Maren!

  2. I'm all about the homemade gifts too, especially really personalized ones like drawings. I <3 them! Happy Friday!

  3. If you want a special day it is up to you to create it! – amen, girl! Sadly it took about 40 years to figure this one out! 😜 Some great ideas! And, if that bag is anything like mine, you will absolutely LOVE it! The leather just keeps getting softer and softer.
