Friday Favorites – A Little Randomness
While time is surely not standing still by any means, the past couple of weeks have seemed to move a bit slower and I haven’t felt quite so overwhelmed as I felt I surely would with all the activities. Here are a few of the things I am digging this week.
{ONE}
My favorite post this week was from Hunt and Host titled Before and After: House to Home. I found this blog recently through a friend and low and behold this amazing lady also lives in my town! Crazy how the blog world works. She has some amazing projects but as a non-DIY’er what I love most is how she ties her post back to God every single time. Reading this post after Easter was so powerful. Go give her a read!

Spring and summer are probably my very favorite times of year to cook. My body is craving healthier food and it’s the perfect time to start grilling outdoors. My favorite meal this week has been Cilantro Lime Shrimp and you can find the recipe by Skinny Mom here. This is a quick and easy favorite it just requires having the right ingredients on hand. Keith ate his with rice and Cary Jo and I tossed ours in a salad. I’m thinking they would also be great as tacos with corn tortillas.

No more braces for this sweet boy! It is so crazy to me how it makes them look so much older just by removing the braces. Our orthodontist took this picture of us and emailed it to me today with a nice note.
And then when I got home this was in the mail! How cool that they had Dillon write a thank you note to us?!! If you are in the BCS area we had a great experience with Dr. Andrews who took over the practice from Dr. Pratt.

Girls Night Out! These girls were my running buddies last fall when I was training for the half marathon. Every time we run into each other we say we are going to get together. I decided to stop waiting on a friend and took the initiative to schedule a date and I even drove us. It was a great night for dinner on the patio and it was so fun to catch up. It’s funny how you can pass each other day after day dropping off kids at school and not really know all that could be going on in someones life. These girls are all special!

I have always, always loved to take pictures! On Wednesday I was able to shoot some senior pictures for a handsome boy I’ve known since he was born. It was so fun. The least favorite part is my dear Nikon started failing on me about a quarter of the way through. I’m still nervous to look and see if any were salvaged. I am trying to use some restraint but I really just want to order a new camera before I miss anything important!! If you love taking pictures and are thinking about a lens that really does a great job for portraits, the 50mm f1.8 is so easy to learn and it is cheap in the way of lenses. Totally worth it. Here is a write up with 8 reasons why you need this lens.
The Frogs are in Kansas but it is back to the ball field with the little man this weekend in Round Rock if the weather holds out. I love the Austin area so there are never any complaints from me when we head that direction.
Wishing you all a fabulous weekend!

That shrimp looks so good! Our family loves shrimp so I can't wait to try this! Happy Friday!
Super easy!
That shrimp dish looks yummy!
So delicious….really wish I had more for tonight!
Oh my goodness look at that smile! What a handsome kid. And really awesome that the orthodontist sent you that picture! For a quick doctor's office picture it sure came out nicely! I'm officially hungry from that shrimp recipe…
Thank you Erin!
Having kids write you a thank you note for seeing them through braces is a fabulous idea! I didn't have braces myself (teeth are not THAT bad, so I decided to accept them as they are) but I saw enough of the hassles via my friends that I am hoping my kids won't need braces.
Has anyone else told you that the capital letter H has no crossbar in the text of your blog posts or comments? It's very strange and not something I've ever seen before. Maybe it's the font? I'm using Firefox for Windows. Right now I can see the H's in full in the comment box, but I expect the crossbars to disappear when I post the comment….
Hi Becca….that is weird about the H. I'm seeing it find but I"m using Google Chrome. I'll have to go view on different platforms and see about that. Thanks for the heads up!
That is so cool that the orthodontist office took a picture and had him write a thank you note. Very special! I know that Grace is counting down the days (another 1-2 years) til she can take hers off. She is hoping it is before high school. And thanks for the tip on the lens. I have one and rarely use it. I'll have to give it a try. I hope your pictures turn out!! We had trouble with our camera a few years ago, and ended up buying a new one. Well, it turned out to be a problem with the lens, not the camera. Duh!! Expensive mistake! (But now we have a nicer camera. 😉
thank you for the love Shelly! I love visiting your Wednesday wears. I can dress a room, but myself Is harder! So glad God gifts us all differently so we can learn from each other!
Isn't that the truth!
Oh my goodness – D Dill without those braces. I teared up a little! He looks SO much older!!! And, how amazing that the ortho had him write a thank you letter!!! They've got my vote for Best Orthodontist!!! So glad you found Kim! She's amazing and I can't wait to meet her!
If I ate shrimp, I would be all over that! Looks yummy!!!
Thanks for linking up with the Saturday Spotlight!
