Friday Favorites – Comfort & Joy
It’s been an uneventful week to say the least but there have still been some bright spots and of course I love sharing all things bright with YOU! Here are a few favorites this first Friday in December.
Drinking in my pjs or just testing to see if my smell is back? Ha! After a 10 day quarantine I’m officially busting out of here and heading back to work today! Yep, Covid finally caught up to our family and I received the Thanksgiving blessing of a positive test. It wasn’t awful but the lingering allergy like symptoms with some fatigiue and bodyaches left me wearing my new favorite pjs and laying around alot more than I typcially do especially this time of year! I use the Crown Royal each morning to test to see if my smell has returned; it hasn’t yet. To me that has just been the weirdest symptom!
While I can taste, I’m having a few things that are just not tasting exactly right but comfort food seems to be the win. I made a pot of potato soup and ate it for days on end. So perfect this time of year! Since we are still trying to lower our sodium AND because I had zero cream of chicken soup in my pantry, I made a homemade cream of chicken recipe to use and it was really good. After I whipped it up I poured into my instant pot along with 32oz of low sodium chicken broth, a bag of shreaded hashbrown potatoes and 8oz of cream cheese (cut into chunks) and cooked on manual for 15 minutes. Of course we topped with cheese and bacon!
We added two new family members which meant it was time to upgrade our stockings! I have loved our stockings for so many years but I have to say I’m super excited about this new updated look! I worked with this company on Etsy and they were an investment but I know we will use them for years to come! Plus I was happy to shop small!
Of course this meant I also needed new stocking hangers and ordered several from Target to try. I ended up using a combination of a couple of little white houses and the neutral “wood” hangers. The reviews for the “wood” hangers were not so great but when I read them most people were not happy that it wasn’t real wood. I paid $10 for packs of two so I never even thought they were hard wood and they are working perfectly for me!
Initially I was suppose to spend Thanksgiving week at my moms so I broke my normal tradition of waiting until after to decorate and boy was I glad. Having all the decor done before I was stuck at home was a true blessing. It definitely gave a glow to all that time on the couch!
If you have been around here long then you may know I don’t sit and watch alot of TV but boy have I made up for it this week. So many fun holiday movies on Netflix plus I finished binging Schitts Creek and the Home Edit and started The Crown, The Queens Gambit and The Unicorn.
I initially purchased this dress for a holiday party we have every single year. Sadly, it should have been tonight but it was cancelled. Now I’m left with a perfect dress but nowhere to go! I grabbed during the pre-black Friday sale for $44 so I think I’ll keep it. It also comes in black and is still available.
Since I found my mother-of-the-groom dress on clearance for $75, I decided I could splurge on the shoes and am in love with this pair of glitzy heels! They are so comfortable and I really think I will find lots of fun ways to wear them again. I mean they look great with this dress too!
Of course nothing makes getting out of quarantine better than being able to go see this little munchkin! Y’all, she has just seemed to “mature” overnight with the whole sitting up by herself thing. She is the happiest girl and so curious about everything. We could not love her and her little monkey toes more!
Hope you all have a super weekend and are making lots of progress on your Christmas shopping! I still have a ways to go but whatever happens this year happens and I’m going to focus on what we already have.
