Friday Favorites – Austin
ONE
TWO
Seeing the bats at sunset fly from under the Congress Avenue bridge is evidently something to see. As many times as I’ve come to Austin I haven’t yet done this but if I did I’m thinking taking this kayak tour would be the thing to do! You can read all about the history of the bats here.
THREE
Lots of great spring fed swimming holes in the Austin area such as Barton Springs and Hamilton Pool. Krause Springs is actually where we are hoping to go after picking up the kids from camp this weekend. The only real family vacation I ever went on as a child we happened upon Krause Springs and it’s the best time I can ever remember having with my family. It has changed a lot since then and definitely more commercialized but hoping to make some fun family memories.
FOUR
We typically choose to stay somewhere somewhat central to anything we might like to do. We are trying out the Lone Star Court which offers live music some nights and is close to the Domain for shopping and dining options. Top Golf is very close and we are going to try it with the kids this year. I am dying to try iFly Austin but so far Dillon is the only willing participant I have been able to convince.
FIVE
If you don’t mind a little drive, the Salt Lick is worth it! Served family style and no finger will go unlicked! Tacos are one of my very favorite things and this article by Texas Monthly outlines the 16 Great Tacos in Austin! More than likely one meal will be at Gloria’s Latin Cuisine as it is comparable to Mexican food but in the Domain area and easy to access from our hotel and so yummy!
Who knows what our weekend will actually look like! When we pick the kids up from a week at camp they are typically so tired they just want to chill. Combine that with the fact that I’m just realizing I didn’t even think twice about packing them some clean clothes for the remainder of the weekend….mom fail. Oops…good thing I’m meeting a friend for some shopping today I guess.
Have a great one friends and be sure to hop over to my contact page and see where I’m linking up!
Bliss is when you don't have anywhere to be at all, you don't have a care in the world and you're surrounded by family! Pure heaven lady, add in that shopping day and woohoo, fun times!! Soak up every second and I hope y'all enjoy a perfectly wonderful weekend!
I have never been to Austin but I hear it is a great place to go! I hope you have fun when you pick up the kids this weekend. I thought those were birds in that photo and when I realized they were bats it gave me chills haha!
I'd LOVE to visit Austin some day!
Hope you are having a wonderful getaway this weekend and that your kids had a great time at camp. It's so funny…I visited College Station the summer after my junior year in high school and was convinced I wanted to be an Aggie. I even have several pics of me wearing an A&M tshirt. But then Austin won me over! Austin is such a cool city and so different from when I lived there many years ago. I had to google what the Domain was! Have a fun time!
Isn't that wild?? I came to Bonfire and the UT vs A&M game my senior year and I totally fell in love with this place.
I haven't been there but it is on my list. This is a great guide and if I go I defiantly to see the bat, very interesting. Oh the food, I am already drooling! Lol!
Take care and keep in touch!
