Friday Favorites – The Holidays are Near

·

Whew!  Did everyone survive Black Friday and this weeks Cyber deals?  I do not brave the crowds on Black Friday and, honestly, unless you are just into that there is really no need to.  Shopping from home in my pj’s worked just as well!  Every year I promise myself to focus on the gifts for others and once again I ended up buying gifts for myself.  Was it just me or did Black Friday and Cyber Monday all just seem to run right together this year?

So many stores are still having great deals and I created a December Deals tab in the navigation bar to help keep track.  Target, for one, is having lots of one day specials worth checking out over the next week and with free shipping and returns through the 23rd it’s a win!   Amazon also has some fun deals I’ve been trying to keep an eye on.  And ever since adding the Ebates tab to the my toolbar I haven’t missed out on the cashback on my shopping.  Can you believe I’m already up to $106!!  If you haven’t signed up you can do so here!

So yes, shopping and all things Christmas have pretty much been my favorite this week!   Let’s get on with what I’m loving shall we?

Holiday Style with the Softest Sweatshirt - The Queen in Between Sweatshirt

I’m not going to lie, I have no idea how in the world this sweatshirt is still in stock!!  Heck, I ordered 3 for gifts and of course one for myself!  I’m wearing a large in this picture but ordered the medium to try and am still debating on the size.  I feel like it’s true to size and lightweight enough it could be layered with a top underneath but just not sure how often I would do that.  Did I mention it is SOOOO soft?  Well, it is and I will probably be wearing it tons!

Poncho Love - The Queen in BetweenPoncho | Booties (similar) | Striped Tee

I also ordered this fun poncho on Black Friday and was really hoping it would work for me.  It’s also super soft and I’m really loving the color.  It also comes in a beautiful green and I really debated between the two colors.  I wasn’t sure I could pull it off but I think once I added the leopard booties I was sold!  My booties were a sale score from Sam Edelman last February when I was in Vegas but this pair is under $25 but looks to be hard to find in stores.

Holiday Sweater Love!

This sweater is NOT on sale but I am having a really hard time not snagging it for a cute casual holiday look!  It comes in both green and red but also black.  I may have ordered to see if it is actually soft, all for you guys of course!  It sure is adorable in this picture so I’ll keep you posted!

And speaking of gifts for yourself, if you have ever considered ordering from Stitch Fix but did not want to risk losing the $20 Styling Fee, you can sign up here and they will waive the fee on your first fix!  Please note this is my personal referral link and I will receive credit but, hey, once you are a Stitch Fixer you can share your code too!

Our Christmas Home

Holiday Home - the Queen in Between

I’m loving our new little breakfast nook since adding the built in (I promise to show you the before and after soon) and this skinny tree found a new home here!  The kids typically had this tree in our front room but right now it is empty so I decided the tree would be much cozier here!  I’m kind of crazy over the whole tree in a basket trend and thought this turned out so cute.  Bonus, this basket will be used under the bench once Christmas is over.

I will be sharing a little home tour with all the Christmas decor soon as well.  This year the new layout of our living room really inspired me to change things up ever so slightly and I really tried to keep things a little more simple.

Gifts!

I love finding special gifts for others!  While I really want to find something they love, I also really like to at least attempt to keep it a surprise.  I’ve tried to pull together some fun gift ideas for several different groups of girls that will hopefully help you just a bit.  I am working on a list for the guys too and hope to have that up really, really soon!

Holiday Parties

We have not one but TWO holiday parties this weekend!  I love being able to get together and catch up with these girls and this party is seriously our favorite.  My friend Sarah legit makes all the food and it’s amazing bite site party food and the best broccoli cheese dip!  Yum!  This picture has me missing my hair though I have to admit.

Then Keith & I will be heading to his company Christmas party on Saturday evening!  Working for the state we don’t exactly get the perks of a night away on the company tab so I definitely enjoy this little treat from Keith’s company.  I loved my dress last year but am pretty sure I will be keeping it a little simpler this year.

Now, would you believe I have not bought ANYTHING to wear to either of these parties (or if I have I don’t remember and it hasn’t arrived yet) and will just have to wing it!  Any suggestions for a great party outfit?  I bought this top recently and actually wore it in our Christmas card pictures so it might be an option if I can find some bottoms to pair it with.

Wishing you a happy holiday inspired weekend!

  1. Well, I’d have to say the hottest couple at that Christmas Party was you guys!! Smokin’! LOVE your peace sweatshirt, I almost got that, you look fabulous in that red. Enjoy teh festive weeknd and ahve so much fun!

  2. I love that Peace sweatshirt! Soo cute on you too! I so want your tall skinny tree you have in your breakfast nook! I would love a tree like that in our kitchen, but the layout of our kitchen it just wouldn’t work. I hope you have a great time at your parties this weekend =)

    1. I snagged two of these trees after Christmas a couple of years ago and wasn’t really sure what I would do with them. One went to my older daughter and it is probably still in the box! This one has been the perfect size to use in smaller spaces. Hope you have a great weekend Johannah!

  3. Such a beautiful festive post Shell. Love the Christmas trees. I’d love to see your home tour this year. 😉 Have a great weekend and come join the linkup if you haven’t yet. 😉

  4. That top would be perfect for one of your par-tays. Kent’s (department) Co party is next Saturday, and I don’t know what I’m doing yet either. It’s a lunch (kinda weird) so it’s more casual, but I still like to look stylish…duh!😉 That poncho is darling and apparently your color is sold out. You’ll get so much use out of it I’m sure. I love the sweatshirt too, but I’m trying to stop myself. I ready for all my BF/CM boxes to start rolling in so I can see what things are keepers. Have a fun, party filled weekend. Can’t wait to see what you end up wearing!!! XOXO

    1. Wait…the burgundy lace or the green sweater? 🙂 I wore the lace top for our Christmas pictures and it’s kind of flowy so I’m a bit self conscious about it making me look heavy…I think I’m going to try front tucking it with a leopard belt tonight and see what happens. 🙂 The poncho I think is going to be a keeper…I can think of so many ways to wear it already!! Of course the one box I was really needing to come didn’t show up today….I ordered OTK black boots.

      1. HA! I did too and I’m dying for them to get so I can see if I like them. I got the VC that were on sale at Nord. What’d you get? I meant the burgundy, but the green is awesome too. Have fun and don’t feel self conscious!😘

  5. Love your new built in and tall, skinny Christmas tree. The deals really were incredible this weekend, and the just seem to keep going! Michael doesn’t have a Christmas party this year…that’s what a downturn in the oil industry does for the festivities! Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thank you! It seriously was a dream for so long and it has made me so happy! I honestly didn’t shop too terribly much for myself but definitely bought too many gifts for the girls and nothing for the boys….I do that every single year!!!

  6. I’m glad I’m not the only one that found more deals for me than anyone else. I do have all my shopping done (except for my boys) so I’m not too worried about it other the fact that I have no idea what to actually buy my boys this year!

  7. That poncho looks great on you and I think you’re right – the leopard booties pull the whole outfit together. How exciting, two parties this weekend! I know you’ll look great, you have a fabulous closet my friend and you are beautiful! Have the best weekend!

  8. I can’t wait to see what you wear to the parties this year! Your dress from last year was so beautiful, I wish I had a big holiday party to go to! We host a sweater party every year, that will be next weekend!

  9. So fun to have so many holiday parties to attend. I though we’d be loaded with them this year, nope. Instead we only have one and it is SUPER casual. Oh well, no reason to shop that way. I hope your weekend of partying was so much fun.
