Happy Friday friends! It has been a relatively calm week around here. Football is over so we have an extra night “free” each week. It doesn’t seem like one week would be that big of a deal but goodness it sure does feel like a huge bonus. I also always seem to adjust to this time change really well so it’s been early to bed and early to rise. Somehow my days just feel calmer that way!
So on to a few of my favorites this week!
VETERANS DAY
Thankful today for all those men and women who have served and are serving to protect our country.
FAVE NEW PRODUCT
I’m sure you may have seen some post about the new
Lash Boost by Rodan + Field. I was able to order ahead of time and have been using for about 5 days consistently and I’m already noticing some growth in length and a little fullness. If you are blessed with amazing lashes like my daughter, Jordan, then I’m so envious. I barely have lashes! I will update you again once I’ve reached the 2 week and 4 week markers. While supplies last you can order the
lash boost and receive a sample size eye cream + a cute little makeup pouch. Please contact me at sjanac69@gmail.com if you have any questions. As with all R+F products, the
Lash Boost comes with a 60 day empty bottle guarantee.
Yes, I am wearing mascara in this picture but my lashes are already looking more noticeable.
BLOGGER LOVE
I absolutely loved this post by Astleigh at the Hill Collection blog. It’s crazy that I follow a few bloggers who are much more my daughter’s age than mine but when I read things like this I sometimes feel I follow along because it gives me hope that all is not lost on the coming generations. There really are so many kind souls out there willing to share their hearts and most of all be accountable. If nothing else you want to visit her blog and see her adorable baby girl.
Speaking of young bloggers with adorable babies, Sarah at Tucker Up has created a little Etsy shop and will also take custom orders for these wood signs. The latest large piece of work has me wanting to find the perfect saying for her to create for our family room. Doesn’t that look so fun!
PSA ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Thursday night a moms group I am part of received a presentation on social media from a local principal. I am somewhat well versed on social media and I do not hesitate to talk frankly with my kids and ask lots of questions. It is still eye opening to know how quickly social media changes and keeping up with the newest app my kids may have begun using can be overwhelming. Let me just share with you as a mom who has already gone through this with older children, you need to make yourself aware. You need to be having those tough conversations with your children. I wish I didn’t have to remind my 14 year old that sending a naked picture of himself to someone is wrong and that receiving an explicit text from a girl is also wrong. There are tons of stories out there about kids who are now facing felony charges for sharing child pornography just from passing along a picture shared with them. And I promise you it is much easier to have the hard conversations now rather than have all your friends see your child’s name on the local sex offender list because, yes, if they are charged they will have to register. If you think your child is immune to any of this I caution you it’s better to be safe than sorry. We all want to believe our kids are making good choices but at the end of the day they are still only kids….with hormones….and peer pressure. My advice to you is to be aware, have hard conversations and do not ever say “my kid would never” because I promise even good kids make bad choices sometimes. Some of you might actually say why not just refuse to let them have a device. Maybe that works but maybe helping them learn to be accountable with the ever changing world they are growing up in may be a better long term solution.
FRIENDS
My friend Lisa is coming to town for the game this weekend and I can’t wait. We do not see each other more than once a year and rarely even txt or talk on the phone but we immediately reconnect as if no time has passed. She is one of those people with a permanent space in my heart! We will probably not be quite this crazy but we will find a way to have some fun!
THANKFUL
Katy and I are super thankful to all of you who have linked up with us this year for
Spiel the Beans! This coming Tuesday, November 15th, it is your turn to share something you are thankful for or maybe share something you have taken for granted. We would truly love to have you join us!
That’s all folks! Hoping you have a quick Friday and a super long weekend!

Sweet week, this will be our first free Friday night in 3 months, crazy. Movie night anyone, lol. Have a ball with your friend in town and may the weekend treat you great sweet friend!!
Have a great weekend with your friend! That Lash Boost is really getting some serious love from a lot of people!
Thanks for the reminder about our kids and PSA. Alise really is a good kid and I trust her. We got her a phone in September, although we agonized over it, but with her cheer and basketball schedules, it was just time. Having said that, I know that I need to have another conversation with her about sending pictures and things like that. I don't want the fact that she's a "good kid" (now…ahem!) turn into something so "bad" later! Have a great weekend with your friend!
P.S.. When I saw your pic on Andrea's blog, I thought you were holding up a pregnancy test! Bwahaha! Just saying.
I'm loving my Lash Boost too!!! I've been using it 2 1/2 weeks and can definitely tell my lashes are looking longer and fuller. I'm the poster child for sad looking lashes, so this is def a new fav for me!!! Happy Weekend!
Lash Boost sounds like something worth trying! Thanks for sharing!

Having already raised 2 good kids……you are SO RIGHT that even good kids can make dumb mistakes! It happened to us and trust me….you do not want to go thru that! Ugh it was awful and all because of peer pressure and hormones! Even the really smart kids do dumb things! Always talk to your kids and be mindful of what they are doing. "Our house ~ Our rules" was always our motto. But rules can be broken. And most of the time they will be. LOL its just a way of the every changing world we live in! and NO! no one was charged with anything or had to register as a sexual predator! But there were some bad texts that were sent back and forth and well lets just say I am glad we always kept our daughters phones charging in OUR room at night and we checked their phones regularly. We always told them "If you are texting something that you feel you would be embarrassed that your parents read, then you should not be texting that"….Did they ever delete texts? Oh I am totally sure they did! Kids. They grow up too fast in todays world!
LOL….I totally thought the same when I saw it on the little thumbnail Laura! haha…no..I would need your prozac turkey for sure!
Thank you Kellyann! I actually used Latiesse several years back and had great results but it was a little out of my price range to maintain. This is still not cheap but i definitely think a bit easier on the pocket book for the results.
Lisa I totally get it. All my kids have these amazing eye lashes and I'm positive I gave up all of mine so they could have them. haha
I think that parenting is hard as it is and then you have outside influences along with social media. I hope to be the Mom who her son feels comfortable and willing to talk to and open up to.
I'm LOVING Sarah's etsy shop!!! I love to be surrounded by quotes – now to choose one… You are my bucket list is at the top of my list!
I can not wait to see your full results from Lash Boost!! Such a great reminder about kids and social media, I am dreading that stage because like you said, even good kids can make bad decision. Ugh! Have a great weekend!!
Me too Karen…I have some sad little eyelashes! I just constantly bring stuff up to my kids casually in the car. For some reason the car ends up making a great place because they don't actually have to look directly at you. 🙂
Always keep those lines of communication open Stephanie and I have no double Connor will always be willing to talk to you.
Same here Kim. I will be the last parent to say "never my kid" and nothing really surprises me too much. It's hard enough being a teenager and I try really hard to lead them with love and grace and not judgement. Teaching consequences and making them learn to be accountable is huge to me as that is one of the things I have seen not happen with others and the kids just never seem to take any kind of ownership over their decisions.
I can't wait to see my full results Mary!
The one thing the principal who was presenting told us Laura is the incidents they have dealt with have been the middle class and affluent kids whose parents give them too much freedom and access. Staying on top of things takes a lot of work but it's worth it in the end. I kind of suck at it honestly but I do have the tough conversations.
Hope you have a relaxing weekend friend. I could use a movie night soon.
Oh, Veteran's Day. Salute to all the heroes.
I love that new product you featured. I hope we have that in our local store. I'm also loving that from Etsy. Why can't I be that crafty, I don't know. 🙂
Patience is why I cannot be that crafty! Haha….I do not have any. Hope you are having a great weekend.
Oh man that social media thing is tough stuff. I can't even imagine how much more difficult it is to be a teen now days over when I was. I hope you had an awesome weekend with your friend Shelly!
