Five on Friday – Random Tidbits

Friday again? Is it my imagination or does the time not speed up as we move closer to the end of anoher year? Maybe it’s the fact that daytime is beginning to become shorter too. Whatever it is I feel like it was just Friday like yesterday!

Sharing some random tidbits today for a little five on Friday fun!

Birthdays

Five on Friday - Birthdays

We are heading into the weekend ready to celebrate the first of four October birthday in our crew, my sweet Jordan. She will be 29 on Sunday! Now that is hard for this momma to really grasp. I put together two pans of lasagna last night using my fave recipe so we can celebrate her tonight!

Good Read

Five on Friday Marriage

So evidently yesterday was National Boyfriend Day so I showed off a few pictures in instagram stories of me and my forever boyfriend back when we were dating and had zero clue what would be ahead of us. Please note this awesome selfie taken when you had to hold the camera backwards and couldn’t even see if you nailed it until you developed the picture!

Anyway, my friend Jesse shared this article on marriage and I was reading it with big shameful eyes. I learned about marriage from my parents who were very loud when they didn’t like something and loved to call out each others faults. Keith did not so typically I’m in a rage and he’s silent and that just makes me more crazy because I take it to mean he doensn’t give a crap. When I read these words the author notes about herself, verbally-abusive martyr who was extremely comfortable with my “toxic” self-righteous indignation, I was like, yep, that’s me!

This article is all about “full respect living”. We have come a long way and I don’t throw things anymore so that’s good but I can still be such a turd sometimes. Marriage is so hard but as the article puts it a good relationship isn’t something you have, but something you do. It takes practice!

Quiet Time

Five on Friday Quiet Time

I’m sure y’all are tired of hearing about the Bible in a year plan I’m following already but I just had to give one more plug for the New Testament reading which began October 1st! I’ve been using the Bible.com Chronological Plan and the you version app to track my reading plan partnered with the Bible Recap podcast. Y’all, Emily let me know she actually has the you version app read the scripture to her and I had zero clue this was an option!! I love to actually read the words in my Bible but on busy days when the only quiet time I might find is in my car in between drop offs it has been so handy!

Here is a link to the lasagna we will be having tonight! It’s such an easy dish to put together the night before and then just pop into the oven. I will have my hands free and my kitchen clean while I visit with company before dinner. I laughed because the first tine I shared this recipe was after Jordan’s 24th birthday dinner! It is always the dinner they request.

Beauty Faves

Beauty Counter

So there are two specials this month from Beauty Counter I must share! First, the resurfacing peel is FREE through October 6th with any skincare regimen purchase. This was the first BC product I tried and quickly fell in love with the way it was making my skin look. If you don’t trust me, Jen listed it as her product of the week a few weeks back!! Take the skincare quiz to see what regimen would work best for you and then partner with your FREE resurfacing peel.

I’ve been using the Countertime regimen since mid July and I’m loving my skin! The investment seems big but after two months I’m not even halfway through most of my product which has really impressed me.

Beauty Counter Freebie

I also tried the balancing charcoal mask this week because it is also the FREE gift with this months Band of Beauty sign up. What is Band of Beauty? For a fee of $29 you receive free shipping on orders > $100, 10% product credit on each order and access to special offers. In October this mask comes free if you sign up and spend $50 on your first order.

So that’s a wrap on the week! Hope you have an amazing weekend celebrating something or someone you love!
