Five on Friday – Little Miss

·

Happy Friday!  We are spring breakin’ over here which only means we have been lazier than usual.  You learn quickly in a baseball family an actual getaway at spring break is pretty much a no go.  We started spring break with a tournament and last night the district opener.  Good thing we love this game!  We are sneaking away and heading down to the coast for a little fishing tomorrow and Carly & I cannot wait for our first ride on our new boat.  Hoping for good weather and lots of fish.

My list, as always, was long and I really had great plans to tackle a few more projects at home.  What I’ve done instead is rest and recharge and hang out alot with my little miss.  Today I thought I’d share five things that are my favorite about this girl right now!

Shopping - The Queen in Between Blog

One | She is always, always ready to head out shopping. We headed to Ashley furniture to look at a sofa for our front room and were so excited to find one….until we got home and measured it out to find it would be way too big.  When do you ever walk into Hobby Lobby and leave with nothing?  Well we did!  I’ve been searching for a mirror forever and finally found one I love and it was 50% off.  By the time I made it to the counter to ask for help it was gone.  I loved that Carly Jo was just as disappointed about both of these things as I was. Ha!

Two | Girl is a foodie!  She is always willing to venture out and try new foods and has definitely learned how to order on her own.  We tried out Hopdoddy Burgers and while the food was delicious it was also really pricey for burgers.  I’m thinking we will probably stick with our typical burger joints.

Three | She has her own style and doesn’t apologize for it!  I let her pick a few new spring items at Old Navy and she did a great job deciding what worked and what did not.  Being a pre-teen is sometimes the hardest for finding clothes that work.  She is started to outgrow the girls sizes but still doesn’t have an adult like shape so the adult sizes aren’t really an option either.   Carly has learned to shop online and add things to the cart waiting for a sale!  Thankfully she hasn’t quite learned to checkout just yet.  You can check out all of her favorites at the new shop link in the navigation bar.

Four | This girl is persistent!  She has been asking for a trampoline forever and this week is wearing me out.  She wrote Keith and I a list of 15 reasons a trampoline is a good idea and we were cracking up.  She even included the fact that we could send her out to jump when we are mad at her and volunteered to clean the leaves off (for money).  This girl didn’t miss the witty gene like her momma and cracks me up often.  She also included this acrostic.  We are still working on her ability to be humble!

Five | She gives feedback but does so kindly.  Carly Jo doesn’t mind letting me (or most people) know how she feels and whether or not she does or does not like something but she (almost) always does so with kindness.  She definitely helps me see when I’m being a bit of a hypocrite sometimes!  I love that she is willing to speak up for herself and express what she likes and dislikes even if it’s not always the same opinion as mine.

Bonus | She’s totally type A and literally cleans when she’s bored!  We will see how long this lasts but right now the girl is not afraid to purge and she is always so proud when she organizes something new.  Now, we will see if this continues to hold when we enter the teen years but right now it’s definitely a favorite!
