Five on Friday – Home Sweet Home
Here we are ready for Friday again! We loved our time at home last weekend. Turns out it will be our last at home for a bit so I’m so glad we made the most of it and were productive in knocking out a few projects. My big goal was to have our master bedroom ready for painters but alas that did not happen. I’m still over here contemplating paint colors! Since this week really didn’t go quite as planned I thought I’d show you a few new touches I’ve added around the house.
Bedroom
I swapped our grey bedding for the spring duvet I’ve had for several years after running across the floral lumbar pillow. It is the perfect touch to add a spring pop of color. The cable knit pillows were in our living room but they work perfectly with this setup.
As you can tell Dutch approves of the new spring look! A few weeks back I bought these sheets for Dillon’s bed and they were so nice I decided to order a solid white set for our bedroom when they were 30% off this past week.
Master Bathroom
In 2016 we renovated our bathrooms with new tile and counter tops and I was looking for a way to finish out the room by creating a gallery wall of sorts. I worked with Minted and chose a few pieces which became the grouping you see here. While I did like the wall it just still did not feel right. This wall is super tall and I just felt it needed more.
I have been dreaming of adding these chunky floating shelves for literally a year! After trying to find someone to make them for me without success, I ordered these and I’m so incredibly thrilled with how they turned out. I am still able to incorporate the art I love and also pulled a few pieces which were stashed away in a cabinet to help complete the look. These letters were previously above our bed and needed a new home. This more substantial grouping definitely makes me feel like this room is 98% complete!
Teen Bedroom
In January I showed this inspiration board I was pulling from for Carly Jo’s teen room makeover. After moving into a larger room with much more space she upgraded to a queen size bed. This is the exact bedding we grabbed and she loves it. She did not love the euro pillow covers so we are back to the drawing board!
I promise when we are all done we will show off Carly Jo’s room but today I thought I would show you the gallery wall we finally were able to pull together from all the stuff shoved over in the corner of her room! This bench was available in a smaller size in the store but then I found the longer size online and it worked out perfectly for this long wall at the foot of her bed. It’s pretty comfy too and will make a perfect place for mom to come have talks during the teen years!
Real Simple Touches
Sometimes it really is the best idea to keep things simple. The biggest hurdle for me is to get through all the clutter. I’ve been hesitant to toss all the items I pulled off the walls and such until I’m done painting and 100% sure I no longer want to add them back. I have so many pieces I love but am not sure they will still fit with our home.
Browsing Real Simple magazine always gives me realistic inspiration! When in doubt just buy a huge bouquet of flowers and separate among vases throughout the house. They are guaranteed to make you smile!
Home Sweet Home
Due to pollen we have spent alot of extra time at home this week. First Keith was affected, then me and now my poor Carly Jo bit the dust! Hoping she wakes this morning feeling much better and with no fever. I’m just over here being super proud of my very first letter board! I’ve had this board from Hobby Lobby for probably 7 months but refused to bring it in until so much of the clutter was addressed. We really are very, very close!
We are off to Houston for dance convention and the boys will head to Conroe for baseball. I don’t mind busy weekends but I am always sad when we have to split up! Wishing you all some sweet time with those you love…or not if you are needing some quiet time. Ha!
