Five on Friday

I’m on day 12 without coffee so it’s a miracle I’m still sane!  I feel like I am committed enough at this point to make the full 21 days so stay tuned.  Thankfully it’s Friday and we have zero, count um, zero plans this weekend!  I could not be happier to know my to do list is a blank slate and I get to choose how much is going to be enough!  Bringing you lots of random things I’m loving right now!

Exciting News

I’ve had a little secret the last few weeks and secrets are not my strong suit.  Super excited to be able to share with you guys after it was finally announced yesterday that Riley received an invite to big league spring training!  No this does not mean he will be on a big league roster but it does mean he is one step closer to living his dream and that makes a momma super happy!

Shout Outs

First up a big thank you to Johannah for having me over for a little Q&A on her blog this week!  Johannah has a precious little family and we are lucky to both be surviving the pre-teen years!

And a big thanks to Leanne at Classy Yet Trendy for featuring this look on her Trendy Wednesday Linkup.  It seriously is the best surprise when you open up a blog to read and see your very own  picture!

Currently Hearting

How cute is this Love t-shirt? I love the little touch of buffalo plaid and really think I need the tee shirt but also some new converse because the entire outfit just has me swooning right down to the rolled sleeves.  Ha!

Love First Tee

But I’m also kind of crazy about this one too! I feel like this graphic tee is a definite yes year round.

Eyelet Denim Jacket

I happened across this jacket in the new arrivals and holy heart eyes!  Is it not just so precious?  Well the price is too but I may have to keep my eye out for a sale because I just think it’s so adorable.

Fave Purchase

Peplum Tee

I think I may have FINALLY found a peplum that will work for me!  I absolutely love the peplum look but it doesn’t really love my shape.  Still…I cannot seem to keep from buying every one I fall in love with and then sadly end up returning.  This one is the softest material and has a very slight hi/lo hem and I actually didn’t feel like it added girth to my already thick frame.  I am totally wearing this today all layered with a favorite jacket.  Bonus it comes in several colors both stripes and solid and is on sale for $21!

Surviving

Barely…just barely surviving my wellness challenge.  We are limited to a list of foods and only those foods for the first 21 days of the “cleanse” piece.  Well, I have been so excited since learning to make these plantain chips and was so proud of myself because, y’all, chips and salsa and guac are my weaknesses and this was really helping with some cravings. Now I’m in the midst of arguing they are “legal” because darn it….plantains and avocado oil are on the list and that’s all this is!!

But this chicken zoodle soup was the BIG winner this week.  It was so amazing and I ate it every single day for lunch.  It is so filling and delicious and I was surprised the zoodles didn’t get mushy in the leftovers. I used this recipe but actually used a rotisserie chicken and it was seriously yum!

And I just thought this was too funny not to share!  Happy Friday!

Hope you all have a sweet weekend!

  1. Great job on the challenge! You’re my hero for going without coffee! We are So excited for Riley in our house! My son has been a fan of his since his college days. I know he will do well! Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Oh my gosh…that little girl is a HOOT!!! I loved it. YAY, I’m so happy you found a peplum you like. I wondered about that one too. I think the peplum being longer might work good for me too. That jean jacket IS darling. I’m so excited for Riley. I know you are over the moon proud and happy for him. That’s just AWESOME! Good job on sticking with your eating plan. 12 days is no joke! I’m proud of you. Have the best, totally free weekend! XO

    1. Isn’t she hilarious! She always makes me laugh. We are super excited and just praying for good health and a good mentality to carry him through the season. It’s been a long year for him between the regular season and fall ball. He didn’t get much time off compared to most ballplayers.

  3. Who is Jim and what did he ever do to you?! bahahahaha! That little girl is my spirit animal! And, whoop for Riley!!! I’m so excited for him! We should road trip with Colby and Dillon to go see him!!! 😉

    1. Thank you V! I am not suppose to be drinking any caffeine, however, I have had spark several afternoons when I just could not keep my eyes open at my desk. There have been several days when I haven’t needed it at all. Love me some spark though. 🙂

  4. How awesome for your son!! Loved the peplum top, they usually don’t flatter me but I may give this one a try.

  5. Woo hoo!!! I am so happy for your family, what an accomplishment for Riley! Seeing your kids succeed is just incredible, such a gift, God bless you all and especially Riley as he joins the team for Spring training.
I have the same problem with peplum tees, why do I love things that don’t love me back? Hmmmm.
I am making that chicken zoodle soup, great lunch idea and it’s packed with veggies. I need to make those plantain chips – do you use a recipe?
Enjoy your easy, breezy weekend my friend. I hope you bask in the glory of your precious life!

    1. The chicken zoodle soup is seriously amazing! And the plantains are super easy…I literally just tossed in avocado oil (could also use EVOO) and salt and then baked in a single layer at 350 for about 25 minutes. I love them. The more green they are the less sweet and more like a chip.

      1. Well I LOVE the soup – made it Saturday and it is delish! The plaintain chips will be next for me. Thanks friend, keep the good ideas coming!

  6. I find peplum so hard. I am wearing one today that I have had in my closet forever but just wasn’t sure I could pull it off. Figured I better try it or get rid of it 🙂 Yay for your son, how exciting. I found you through Johannah’s blog :)!

    1. Erin I’m so the same. I do love the look though and throwing a jacket or a cardigan over it has made it perfect. This one is such a lightweight and buttery fabric I felt like it stayed closer to my body which didn’t make me feel so bulky.

  7. I love those LOVE t-shirts; it’s just to darn cold for me to even think of short sleeves though. I am going to have to check out that soup recipe. I am trying to fill up more on veggies and I just LOVE zucchini!

  8. So happy for your son, may it lead to even bigger opportunities! Cute peplum top and I love the stripes. Have a great weekend!

    1. We would love prayers Beth! I’m always just praying for him to stay healthy for sure. I know it’s been a road to get to where he is and hopefully he will continue to work hard and see results. Ahhh peplum…I seriously just love the look but it is such a hard one for me to pull off.

  9. So excited for your son–congratulations! Thank you for that recipe. I need to eat healthier & this sounds like something I can actually make.

  10. So excited to hear about Riley! Im calling it here….he will be in Fresno this summer and maybe MLB by end of summer. Just saying. I certainly hope so!

      1. That will be awesome and YES we will come to a game when you are here and do dinner! Or lunch or whatever works in your schedule! Yes Yes Yes!

  11. YAY Riley! So exciting. I’m so proud of you on this 21 day journey, and wow, that chicken soup looks delish! That little girly is something else, made me smile! Hope you’re having a great weekend of Chillin and smiling ALOT!

    1. I seriously just can’t wait to be done with the 21 days so I can have coffee, nuts and potatoes again! Still going to be fairly strict for the rest of the 90 days but I am already feeling so much better and less bloated so totally worth it.

  12. That is so exciting about Riley!! I can’t wait to see what happens this season. I also love those valentines shirts. I need to head over to Amazon and check it out. Hope you are having a great weekend.
