Five on Friday – Wellness Roundup
Good morning friends and Happy Friday! It was a big day for us yesterday as Dillon is now an official licensed driver. As much as I know this will help me out it is still also pulls at your heart when you see them drive off the first time alone. Lots of prayers will be said over him for sure.
What am I most excited about? I will be able to add coffee back to my routine this weekend!! I committed to a wellness challenge in January which runs from January 14th through April 15th. It is mostly a paleo style eating regimen but the first 21 days is a cleanse with no caffeine, low sodium, no potatoes, no nuts. Success is losing about 6 pounds thus far and feeling way, way less bloated. You can bet I will be having some bacon and some coffee pronto!
One | So what have I been eating? Keeping things simple is the easiest way for me to stay on track. I pretty much meal plan and make things that will last for several days but almost always eat 1 whole egg and 2 egg whites fried in ghee butter for breakfast. If I miss my eggs in the morning I’m super hungry by 10:30. The good news is we have not wasted at all. I prepackaged strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, celery, carrots and mini bell peppers and by this morning they were all gone! So my good habits have worn off on my friends.
Two | Jordan told me about the Sift Food Label app and it has really been an interesting addition. If you are interested in knowing all the hidden things in the food you are buying this tool will open your eyes. If you are someone who does not want to know do not go down this rabbit hole because some items, like spices for instance, have been a little shocking to me. We’ve definitely been putting a lot of crap in we weren’t aware of and you will find out quickly sugar is in EVERYTHING!
Three | I received my first Butcher Box this week and I have to say I may get spoiled by this little delivery. I have already used the pork breakfast sausage (yes, even that from the store has sugar in it) and it is delicious. Is it a little pricier than regular meat from the grocery store? I’m sure it is but it I’m sold on the goodness of it.
Four | With no coffee I had to find something warm to drink in the morning and I’ve been enjoying two different Tazo teas, wild sweet orange and calm chamomile
Five | After Emily mentioned the vanity planet scale a few weeks ago I decided it was time to upgrade. I’ll never love being weighed but I do love this one breaks down the % of water, bodyfat, bone density. One of my biggest issues is not seeing that weight number move when I’ve been working hard but if I can see during times of the month my water % changing or my bodyfat going down even if the weight doesn’t reflect the same then it definitely gives me motivation to keep going. It is rather pricey but right now on sale and this is not an affiliate link…just a regular old link because I want to share with you guys! You can shop here.
The Blended Blog would love for you to join the fun on Monday by sharing your answers to the love month inspired questions! The linkup will be live on Monday, February 5th!
Yesterday I shared my February project; recreating my closet in 28 days! If you want to see what I’m thinking about you can read the post here.
Hope you all have a fabulous Friday!

Happy Friday! Oh my goodness a licensed driver must be such a weird feeling. Yes to all of the healthy eating! I hope you have a nice weekend. Sierra~Beautifully Candid
I feel so much better Sierra….and to me that tells me it’s right for my body! Hope you have a super weekend!
Yay to all the healthy eating! I bought ghee butter but haven’t used it yet. It’s really hard.
I pop it in a skillet just as I would with butter and melt it before adding my eggs. I honestly haven’t tried it any other way yet.
Bravo to you for all of those days without caffeine!!! I’m impressed. We’ve been doing our version of whole 30 but I have had some coffee. It does make you feel better. I’m also heading over to look at your closet post. Happy Weekend!!
I eat eggs every morning, too! They really keep me fuller way longer than anything else!
Yes! I definitely can tell a difference when I don’t have them.
I wish I wasn’t allergic to eggs. It’s such a good, healthy breakfast options. Most mornings I have sausage, fruit, and some kind of breakfast potatoes. I’m currently experimenting with using different root vegetables instead of a potato.
Oh man….I would definitely struggle getting my protein in without extra fat if I was allergic. I can’t wait to add potatoes back this week…I’ve missed them! Which root vegetables have you tried? I used some parsnips once and liked how they turned out.
She your tried a Sous Vide? I am going to start Sous viding my eggs so I can bring to work for a poached egg. A friend just brought one to work and it was awesome!! Perfect poached agh made the night before. That scale is cool! Happy weekend friend!!
I have never heard of this Sarah! I actually have a little tool that lets me microwave my eggs and they come out perfect. I am glad I’m an egg lover it makes this kind of eating lifestyle easier.
Woo to the hoo for coffee and double WOOWOO for losing 6 lbs. That’s AWESOME and I know you feel so good! I checked out the scale, but I think my head might explode with so much info…LOL. I’m def not getting that app. I have enough inner struggle with trying to balance eating healthy and rationalizing my what I know can only be called a sugar addiction. If loving sugar is wrong, I don’t wanna’ be right. HAHAHA! Have a great weekend friend!!!
Lol….I do love a good sugar binge here and there but I also know that is the one thing that makes me feel the worst and adds all the bulk to my middle because when I cut it out the change is huge in just a short time. I can live without it in my daily life but dang I miss my chips and hot sauce!
I’ve had Tazo tea before and I love it! Sometimes when I don’t really “need” coffee I’ll grab a Tazo tea. Congrats on the loss of 6 lbs that’s awesome!
Going to celebrate the mini goals but hopefully stay focused on the end goal!! Happy Saturday Laura!
Congrats to the 21 day fix! I bet you are feeling and looking great! And you’re so right about the food labels. I learned so much about how horrible American foods are when I lived in the UK. Would you believe they have foods over there like Kraft mac and cheese, but they use different ingredients to meet the standards they have for food. Why can’t they just make it that way for the US? And don’t get me started on chicken breasts. All the chicken over there, whether you buy organic or the cheapest kind, is half the size of our chicken here. What are we doing to our food?! I could go on and on…
Lol….it has really shocked me using this app. And so many of the things will then note that they are banned in the UK.
Congrats on being able to add coffee back!!! Woo hoo! Actually good for you for doing the cleanse – I’ll bet you feel great and that’s what it’s all about. Actually that sounds like the hokey pokey doesn’t it? That’s what it’s all about! Ha! I love when you share your recipes so keep ’em coming! I’ve never used ghee before maybe I need to try it!
xo,
Kellyann
I have to say this was just what I needed Kellyann….now if I can just continue to stay focused until reaching my goal. All the major bloating is GONE which is what was driving me the most nuts. Now let’s get rid of some of this fat that has accumulated. Happy weekend!
Totally linking up on Monday, beauty! And total hats off to you for all that clean eating!
Yay for you! I can not imagine a life without coffee. Although I do not drink mine black and I use SF creamer and I do not want to know how bad it is for me. I love it. LOL I never counted it in points for my WW because I rarely drink a whole cup but just about half a cup and I am good to go. We are over at the beach for a few days and the weather is WARM. upper 70’s – low 80’s. Crazy. We didn’t really even have a winter. Have a great rest of your weekend!
If only I didn’t love food so much this would be so much easier. I’ve managed to stay away from all my trigger foods because I’ve realized I’m still thinking about them way too much which definitely means I’m not ready. Blah. Hope y’all had an amazing weekend.
I love food too. ALOT. Whyyyyy !! LOL
Not the coffee! It’s the first thing I think about in the morning! I’m glad you are on your way to having some! Sending good vides on the teenage driver!! I would be going crazy! Have a great weekend!
Way to go! I’m impressed with your preparedness! That is definitely the key to sticking to an eating plan.
