Fall Playlist – Blogtember #6

·
Do you ever just get in a music fog?  I listen to the radio every single day and love music.  I truly do think music is part of my soul and singing along with the radio makes me so happy.  Sometimes I am loving it so much I am just not paying attention to what the heck I’m listening to!
One thing I do listen to every single morning on the way to work is the Bobby Bones show.  I’ve mentioned this before and one of the things I really love is he does his best to reach out to artist who might not necessarily be directly in the spotlight.  Well, last week Jamie Lynn Spears was his guest and, y’all, she blew me away.  I think my momma heart and my unwed mom heart was just so darn proud of her for deciding to be a mom at such a young age and she seems to be very mature and grounded.  She played her new single Sleepover and it is just such a great song!  Today when so many songs being played are overly suggestive and end up leading to parenting lessons in my car (thank you Blake Shelton), this was really a nice change.   I know this song will definitely be on my fall playlist!

I’m also really loving the praise song, God is on the Move.  Of course thanks to my friend Holly’s precious daughter Hope, I continue to want to sing God is on the roof.  Powerful music can really help to turn my day around.

Every fall when the first cold front hits and Aggie Football is in full swing, I always, always have to listen to Granger Smith’s We Bleed Maroon.  This song so touches me every single time.  I talked a little about the Aggie Spirit last Tuesday for our Who Ya Rootin’ For linkup but this song captures the feelings here in Aggieland so well.  It gives me chills every single time!

And I will leave you with one of my all time favorites to listen to this time of year.  This song, September by Daughtry, just always makes me feel sentimental.

Is music a special part of your daily life?  What songs move you the most?

  1. Love, love , love your taste in music, so similar to mine and another reason you're my Texas sista!!! Happy short week!!

  2. I love how music can change the atmosphere. When I'm struggling sometimes I'll put praise music on in the background. I may not even be actively listening (nevermind singing), but those prayers, praises, and truths flood the space around me until my heart gets there! Thanks for sharing some new music!

  3. I didn't know Jamie Lynn was making a comeback. I just listened to that song, and you're right, it's a refreshing change. I'n not a Blake Shelton fan, but my husband is. I cannot stand that new song of his. That's the last thing I want my kids to get stuck in their head before preschool! Ugh!
That's funny that Holly's daughter says God is on the Roof. I know the correct words, but always catch myself singing, God is on the Loose. Ha! I guess he can be on the move, on the roof, and on the loose…he is God, after all. 🙂
I'm stuck on Oceans by Hillsong United right now. I love it!

  4. Haha, Emily! I can't hear that song without hearing Hope singing from the backseat, "God is on the ROOF, on the ROOF!" It's just too funny! And, it does make it easy to explain that God is everywhere!. 🙂

  5. I'll try to jot down some of the other funny ones that she thinks she knows the words do! Bless it! She gets it from her mama! And I'm a sucker for We Bleed Maroon! Brings tears to my eyes every.single.time!

  6. I love music….I play it loud on the car, and it drives my kids nuts as I have it blaring and I am singing my heart out!!! 80s hair bands and country are my jam! What a fun post! Have a great Wednesday !

  7. Chris Daughtry was my neighbor for a while when I lived in Greensboro. Yeah, I'm cool like that. Bahahaha. So this is random but my husband announces we are pulling for A&M this year. I said, "Wait, what?" He was like, "Yeah I'm sick of our teams here we're going Texas A&M all year." Do you know how difficult it is to find y'all's stuff out here? Lord have mercy. xoxoxoxoxox

  8. Blake was not made with kids in mind but I do love him so. And we listen to KLOVE all day because a) I love the songs and b) nothing will be said that Connor could repeat that would be questionable.

  9. I seriously listened to her interview and was just so proud of her! I love seeing someone who could have easily taken a turn for the worst, especially in the media spotlight, pull herself together! Blake….I like some of his music but I'm totally irritated by that latest song. I have Carly trained and if it comes on she immediately changes the station!
