Fall Home Tour
It’s been several years since I’ve shared any pictures of our home and truthfully, the last year has been kind of a hot mess which bled right on over to my house! The last few weeks I’ve been taking some time to restore order. For me it definitely is true that a cluttered space creates a cluttered mind.
Our new front door did a ton to increase the curb appeal of our home. I love pulling into the driveway each day to see it look so fresh and welcoming. I’m still working on the right fit for the bench I added but for now I’ve filled it with beautiful mums that I’ve managed to keep alive an entire month!
I’m fairly proud of myself as the only new item I purchased was a pillow cover for the front porch. I kept everything else fairly minimal and used what I had to add some fall touches here and there.
I’m cheating a little bit here as this is our entryway and it almost looks just like this right now but I pulled this picture from last fall. Changing the wallpaper in this space definitely made this one of my favorite upgrades. I use a pop of pumpkin here and there to make it feel fallish.
We love our living space but I’m not sure I’ll ever get it just right or be able to make it look the way I feel it does in person in a photo. It looks a little cluttered but it doesn’t feel that way to me. Again, I kept things pretty simple.
Of course would I even be a blogger if I didn’t own this table? It is a good one and I’ve heard from several who have added drawer hardware recently to really dress it up a bit. I think I might be on the hunt for some handles!
I have small touches around my house from both my grandmothers. One collected giraffes and the other cups and saucers and decorative plates. I love to pull them into our decor.
Live plants have also added some life around the house and this ivy I’ve seemed to be able to keep alive without too much work!
After cutting off the cable we’ve been using a firestick but there is no plug behind our TV yet so please ignore that extension cord. :). I love this little truck!
Our bedroom is definitely one of my favorite spaces and a simple “hey pumpkin” pillow is all I needed to make it feel fallish. I honestly love this time of year when the house is cool enough we pull the down comforter all the way up at night!
I use to sell Southern Living and have so many entertaining pieces that typically just sit in the cabinet. I’ve worked on pulling those out to use around my home in recent years instead. This platter is one of them and it has been a great base for a centerpiece each season on our kitchen table.
The built in is another upgrade we made to the house that has really perked up the space and made it feel more functional. This is one of the first things I see when I walk in from work each day and it makes me happy to have something fun on the table.
The tiered tray, I either love it or hate it. Ha! It does not come natural to me to pull this together but this year I tried not to overthink it and just used some of what I had and threw it in there! It turned out cute.
Did you keep things simple this year or decide to go all out? We usually wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas and I feel like that will hold true again this year. November always ends up so much busier than I expect.
It was fun to look back at previous home tours I’ve posted to see how our home has changed and evolved. I’m not sure I will ever get things perfect but then again, would it be any fun around here if I did?
