The Fab 40’s – Ruffles

Today I’m a guest participating with The Fab 40’s ladies showing my take on the theme for July; ruffles.  I’d love to give a big shoutout to Jennie who has great style but even more so has a big heart and is such a great supporter in this community.  So come along and see how these ladies chose to wear their ruffles!

When Jennie invited me and shared the theme I didn’t give it much thought.  Once I settled in to decide what to share I realized my closet does not contain much in the ruffle category.  I love ruffles and the daintiness they can add to an outfit but as a girl on the curvier side ruffles are not always easy to pull off.  Balancing the size and placement of ruffles can definitely be a little tricky as some can end up drawing attention to all the wrong places and possibly adding size to your frame.

I grabbed this ruffle tank on a whim and was so pleasantly surprised at how much I loved the style.  The ruffle is not over the top and the shape is a flattering cut.

Wearing heels with shorts is one of my favorite ways to dress up an outfit for summer.  You can never go wrong with adding some length to your legs!

Simple enough to wear alone with shorts for a date night with one of my favorite clutches.  I loved keeping it simple with a black on black look and a few simple accessories.

The tank on it’s own is perfect for a warm summer day or night but works equally as well under a jacket paired with a skirt for work.

  1. You look great Shelly and I so agree with you about ruffles! I love them but they can really add volume to parts I don’t need volume if not placed properly. I think that was the case with the blouse I’m talking about today on my blog. Ruffles are just so pretty and feminine!

  2. I was blessed to join these lovely ladies a few months ago. Boy, they chose a winner in you and looking so fierce in black! Love the ruffle detail you spunky babe!

  3. I passed on a ruffle top recently and I’ve been kicking myself ever since for putting it back on the rack- doubt I’ll be able to find it now! I love that you pair black with tan- I’m so glad that old fashion rule has been thrown out the window!

  4. I have always loved ruffles and I am smitten with your tank-top. I wish-listed it. I love how you went for cognac shoes to break all the black and your jewelry is on point. Jennie has great style but so do you! =)
