Extend Your Wardrobe + Ageless Style Linkup
Welcome to the October Ageless Style linkup where 10 women come together to share a little style based on a chosen prompt. This month Nicole gave us the challenge of extending our wardrobe by choosing to wear a piece of clothing in a different way. I can’t wait to see how creative these ladies are!
Dress | Scarf (similar, similar)| Striped Tote | Leopard Cuff |Necklace | Booties (similar)
I’ll admit upon first reading this prompt I was feeling a little stumped. As my fall scarves sat waiting on cooler weather, however, I remembered this fun twist. It is super easy to take one of your favorite scarves and repurpose into a vest to top one of your favorite blouses or a shift dress. I’ve linked a few scarves I think would make beautiful options for a vest.
The weight of a scarf makes the perfect shrug for this time of year in Texas. The colors add a little fall flair but it doesn’t add so much bulk you are too warm. Pair with your favorite booties for the perfect fall combo.
And seriously this dress is THE dress for fall! the weight makes it perfect for warmer days but it will also work perfectly with a cardigan and possibly leggings in he fall.
Wearing a scarf as a vest is an easy way to extend your wardrobe and bring some new life to an outfit don’t you think? If you are like me and need a visual, I’ve included this you tube video below! I’d love to see your take on creating an outfit using a scarf as a vest!
Now it’s your turn to link up your ageless style and follow along with some of these ladies to see what they have cooked up today!

I love turning a scarf into a vest!! Looks great!
Thanks Jaymie! I could definitely see you doing this too.
What a fabulous idea!!! I need to try this. You look great Shelly!
xo,
Kellyann
You could totally rock it Kellyann…easy way to get some use out of fun scarves in our warmer climate.
What a fun idea!!! My first thought was that vest is SO cute. I am such a sucker for a plaid vest.
I’m a sucker for plaid too Beth…AND for scarves which I have way too many of.
Oh, you did that perfectly. My mom (the 70+ model on my blog) and I tried that once, and it didn’t turn out near as good. I’m sure the scarf you choose has a lot to do with it. And maybe we need practice–ha ha!!!
XOOX

I definitely think the scarf makes a ton of difference Jodie. I initially tried with a different scarf and the shape just did not work well. Hope you are having a great week!
Love the dress and this tip with the scarf is ingenious! You just added a ton of options to my wardrobe!
Yea! I love when I share an idea that might actually work for someone else. This is easy peasy Penny, hope you try it.
Cool idea! And the video helped! Will have to try this!
I’m definitely a visual learner Mireille….give me written directions and this would have never happened. lol
I absolutely love this idea! It looks great on you!
Thank you V!
Oh, this is a fabulous look! I really like your plaid scarf and this is a great way to incorporate a bit of fall when it is still too darn hot. I have been wanting to give this a try and now might be just the time!
Jennie you could totally rock this look!
What a cute idea!!! Love the colors you put together!
Thanks Emily!
I’m still loving that striped tote! Black and white stripes really get me every time!
Girl…I need to find a new one for fall but this one is just so darn perfect!
Oh, this is so cool! I am going to have to bookmark or pin this idea. I dont have a ton of scarves, but a few for when it gets alot colder i love this camel plaid on you, perfect with the booties too!

Do it Jess! I love the colors in this scarf every time I wear it but oddly it’s not one of the first I pull out. Wearing it like this was so fun!
I need to remember this, so dang cool! Looks fantastic!
It’s so easy Sarah and since you are in a warmer climate too it would be an easy way for you to wear a scarf but not feel like you are going to smother!
So going to try this!
Scarves and jackets are my go to make items more Fall and Winter appropriate. I love layering and making the most of my wardrobe.
I’m trying so hard Stephanie…..I still have way too many clothes in my closet and I need to continue to narrow it down. I need to get better at using the pieces I love the most and letting go of things I don’t love 100%.
What a great idea! Love. 🙂
Wow, I absolutely love what you did to that scarf! Such a great look! I love scarves in the summer (light ones) and in the Fall and Winter (heavier ones). So, I guess I love them year round!
Thanks Julie! I’m a little crazy over scarves too and I promised not to buy anymore this year…..and then I saw two I could not resist. I am thinking I need to toss some of the heavier ones this year since it doesn’t get that cold around here.
I love the burberry print scarf and that striped bag is a perfect pattern to compliment it!

Don’t you just love mixing patterns like stripes and plaid? Hope you have a super weekend Ruth!
So pretty! What a great idea, and I love the dress.
Such a cool idea – I am going to try this out too!
