Currently – September + Linkup

·

Today I’m joining Anne and Lowanda for a look at what is currently going on over here as well as Jenn and Jessi for What’s Hap-“pinning” Wednesday.

Celebrating

Last month I celebrated my 3 year Blogiversary by sharing milestones from year 3 and goals for the coming year.  Today I’m celebrating the winners of my Blogiversary giveaways!  Nicole of Adventures of a Semper Fi Family is the winner of the Stella & Dot Taj Clutch and Andrea of Andrea’s Wellness Notes has some Rodan + Fields Hydration Serum on the way!

Watching

Hurricane Irma!  Y’all, after 10 days of watching hurricane Harvey devastate Texas, all eyes are on the Florida coast.  Watching and praying those ordered to evacuate do so swiftly.

Welcoming

September!  Looking forward to a few cool fronts even though in Texas that just means a day or so without 96 degrees and 100% humidity.  I’ll take it!  I can’t wait to pull out a few fall decorations soon and receive my fall scents from Twine & Cotton.  Astleigh’s candles are amazing and I love ordering the tiny 3 pack to sample scents for my sensitive nose.  Currently waiting on Hello Fall, Campfire Weather and Stars Hollow!

Preparing

When I was growing up we had a quick “hey you wanna go to Homecoming” ask in the hallway and our dance was full of sweaty teens in the cafeteria after the football game.  Well those days are long gone!  Now it’s all about some clever ask and I was just tickled as could be Dillon decided to participate this year.  We had a couple of ideas but settled on this baseball theme.

Super excited he asked a friend who could 100% appreciate the theme.  Can’t wait to see these two all dressed up next month!

Photographing

It has been weeks since I’ve taken any outfit shots and I have to say this dress totally blew me away.  Not only are the colors vibrant and beautiful but the sleeves are so fun and it is amazingly flattering.  Did I mention it is from TARGET!!  A few weeks back Target ran 20% off of select dresses and I ordered several to try.  This one really surprised me!

Dress|Shoes|Clutch

To ease into fall I’m still pairing with suede sandals (still on sale, still amazing) but can totally see wearing this dress with booties or even my over the knee boots once it cools off.  It never ceases to amaze me how true it is that leopard really is a neutral!  I just love how it pairs with these bright colors.

  1. Ain’t it the truth about all the prom-posals and now homecoming??? Whew, what a trend! That dress is SUPER cute and I love the leopard clutch paired with it! I haven’t done any outfit posts in weeks. I just ain’t feelin’ it and now we are on Irma watch!

  2. Congrats on your 3 year Blogiversary! How exciting! Love that dress – the colors, the sleeves. It’s perfect for fall. Wow, I can’t believe even asking for homecoming dances has turned into a big “thing”. So much pressure. But what a cute idea you guys came up with.

  3. Oh Dillion way to go….so so CUTE!! That dress is SPECTACULAR, yes in all caps cause it’s that pretty!! You are so much gorgeousness!

  4. That sweet hoco ask was darling!!! I LOVE that dress and would have never guessed it was from TARGET. I’ve been meaning to get on for a while and check out their dresses. Thanks for the nudge!!!

  5. First, thank you for hosting the giveaway. I am so excited and happy to have won! Second, I’m right there with you on how school dances used to go. We would have loved a more formal homecoming but we had the same after the game dance 🙂 Last year I had to go “proposal” shopping with my daughter who asked her male friend as a casual date. So thankfully it was all in fun and no potential heartbreak involved. I love that baseball theme basket. It’s so fitting for your family!

  6. I have to have that dress from Target! What a stunner!
Ok, yes, when I went to homecoming it was just a simple question and a simple answer. Now it’s gotten completely out of control, holy cow, the pressure! I love what Dillon did – just perfect!
So now it’ s our turn, I feel like a sitting duck waiting for Irma. We are as prepared as can get but I’m still praying the whole thing takes a major turn and goes AWAY!

  7. Love Target and love that dress! Glad to see you guys are okay. Praying Irma decides to just stop in it’s tracks or turn back into the Atlantic. Don’t know where I’ll go if it heads up the East coast. Looks like it’s slowing down by the time it hits Charleston, but it’ll still be at least a category 3. Keep us in your prayers.

      1. Not me, thank goodness – but my grandparents are in Florida and we’re just now sure if it’s going to hit them really hard or not yet.

  8. That dress with that clutch is giving me all the heart eyes! What a fun and cute way to ask someone to HoCo. I love seeing how creative kids can be when it comes to dances. They go all out!
