Currently July – Style Six
It’s currently July y’all and I always love sharing with Anne in Residence the first Wednesday of the month. This month I’m joining in to share what I’m currently eating, feeling, going, ordering, and realizing, as well as joining my Style Six sisters for some linkup fun.
Eating at home! Well, truth be told I did have girls night on Monday, BUT last week we ate at home all week long. It has been a long time since I’ve been inspired to cook anything and I’m blaming on weird taste buds leftover from Covid. We made fajitas on Sunday which have worked well for tacos and quesadillas the last two nights. I cooked up a big pot of instant pot salsa chicken which I’ve been adding to salad for my lunches. Tomorrow I will use what is left to make some yummy chicken enchiladas!
Salads are also a favorite and this one is so easy and always pleases a crowd. Spring mix, sliced strawberries, feta or goat cheese, your choice of nuts all topped with this poppyseed dressing. I’m having this today with some chicken tossed in.
Feeling a little stuck. This midlife period isn’t bad per say and I honestly feel a little ridiculous to be struggling with finding my purpose at 51 but here I am! I haven’t talked much about it but I embarked on hormone therapy for almost a year now and I’m about to try to stop taking them as I always intended it to be a short term fix. I’m officially menopausal (over a year without a cycle) and it has really not been fun for my body. Trying yet a new approach so we shall see!
Going to Virginia in a little over a week to visit Dillon. He is playing ball in Charlottesville this summer and having the best time. I’m so thankful he was placed with a sweet family and he has made some new friends. His performance hasn’t been too shabby either and he was even one of 5 players from his team to be chosen for the all star game this weekend! It will be 6 weeks since I’ve seen him and I can’t wait to hug his neck!
Ordering or preparing to order some things from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I was disappointed in this sale last year but I’ve got my wishlist all ready and hope a few things might still be available by the time I’m able to shop. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve added any new booties to my closet and the sale is always a chance to grab a cute new pair. I also love stocking up on my workout leggings!
Realizing summer is flying by! June passed in a flash and I’m sure this month will be equally as swift so I’m trying to soak it up and slow down just a bit. Carly will head to camp the last week of July and then right into drill team camp when she returns. I’m hoping we can squeeze one quick weekend or day trip to the beach in somewhere!
What are you currently up to for July? Here are a few looks I’m wearing this summer! Share yours with this weeks Style Six Linkup!
My last Stitch Fix held two wins for me! I finally bit the bullet and asked for a larger size in shorts and what do you know, they fit AND I can actually breathe again! No need to continue to feel bad about myself so until I can get things worked out and back into my old size, I’m wearing these on repeat. Unfortunately finding this brand, Dear John, outside of Stitch Fix can be tricky and they are a little pricey but price per wear they have been a win for me. I’ve also already worn the top multiple times for work and weekend activities. If you have never tried Stitch Fix, you can get $25 off with this code. I love this service every few months!
My hat is old from a local boutique but you can always check out their other pieces and use my code QUEEN20 for a little discount love. This is really more for the younger girls in your life most likely, but every once in awhile I find somethng for me while shopping with Carly! My favorite thing about Threads is the staff who is always lovely to work with!
This little skirt from J. Crew Factory sat quarantined in my closet since last spring! I initially meant to return it but never made it so I finally decided it was time to pull it out and wear it. Okay, so maybe I should have also decided to steam it first, but I loved this look!
Another fave from my closet, this camo linen top which has been hanging around for a few years. It looks like there are a few sizes left of a very similar one from this same brand. This is a new pairing that I pulled together for work one day. Thankfully in the summer we are able to dress pretty casual. A great pair of cropped just right slacks is a must for my closet in the summer and of course these sandals on repeat! Threads has a dupe you can find here which are under $30 when you use the code QUEEN20.
