Currently December

Happy Holidays!   It’s the first Wednesday of the month so I’m joining Anne of In Residence to share what I’m currently giftingbakingsingingmailing, and decorating.

Gifting

I did some cyber shopping and just about wrapped up the gift list for my “bigs”.  There are also a few items on the way I picked up straight off my travel bug gift guide that will hopefully surprise a few friends!  My two teenagers are totally stumping me this year and I need to make some progress this weekend.  More than likely I will also be grabbing my favorite ornaments to give to sweet friends and coworkers.

Carly Jo has asked me to grab her some plain brown bags so she can create her own packaging again this year.  Love that girl!

Baking

Christmas baking is always one of my favorite things to do and I love sharing some sweets with people I love!  I shared some of my favorite Christmas cookies I make every single year last week so you can enjoy them too!

Is there any better time to sing out loud than Christmas!  Spotify is my go to at work and there are a ton of holiday options.  On Monday I shared the answers to a few holiday questions with The Blended Blog and one asked traditional or modern Christmas songs?  I love a little of both but think my friend Sarah described it perfectly…..traditional with a modern twist.

Mailing

Our Christmas cards should arrive Thursday and I can hardly wait to get them all in the mail!!  I didn’t overthink my cards this year and ordered them during the cyber Monday sale.  I’ll be sure to share them here as soon as I can!  I also love putting together some fun packages full of dollar spot finds, socks, gloves and typically I include a box of cupcake mix and some sprinkles or a movie and popcorn.   Sending something for the kids but also an activity the whole family can do together like bake cupcakes or settle in for a movie and some popcorn or hot chocolate gives me a chance to gift some time for families to share a moment!

Decorating

Of course I’ve been decorating and would say the house is about 90% complete.  There is a section of our tree with questionable lights and it really just needs a little something else.  I usually add ribbon and decided not to this year but I haven’t decided what to add instead.  We also need a few more ornaments for Carly’s tree and the lights are not up yet outside but fingers crossed we will be holiday ready by the weekend!

My favorite memory of my childhood is my mom decorating the tree with everything spaced just evenly.  The tiny balls in the ops section, medium balls in the middle and large on bottom.  Then she would lay the icicles (does anyone even use those anymore??) very strategically on the tree.  My dad came in one year and he began tossing the icicles in the air and letting them fall onto the limbs on their way down.  I bet my mom stayed up all night redoing those dang icicles.

Wearing

Yesterday I shared this holiday top with the Ageless Style linkup.  I’ve already worn the top 3 times in just over a week!  Red just always makes me feel prepped for the holidays.

Seriously in love with layers when they come together like this!  This jacket is one of my very favorites; so much so I own it in two colors!  I did make the mistake of sending mine to the cleaners and evidently that is a no no with resin coating.  All is not lost it is just no longer shiny!  But I definitely didn’t screw up the stripes and plaid combo and my boots are an investment I do not regret making.

A puffer vest in a fun color will definitely go along way to beating the winter doldrums. I love how fun it is combined with this bold scarf and complimenting sweater but it looks equally great with neutrals.

This made the perfect travel outfit for our trip home from Florida over Thanksgiving!  Zella live in leggings really are a favorite of mine and these are 5 years old.  My fave part?  They are reversible so once one side began to look a little faded and dull I just turned inside out and continue on my way!  Did I mention this sweater is soft as can be and on sale for $16!   Of course you can see I am carrying my fave tote which now comes in this amazing color.  Thanks to the purse organizer I can stuff it full and still manage to find everything!

Head on over to visit Anne in Residence and linkup what you are currently doing this December and as always share your style with The Blended Blog.
