Crayon Pumpkin – Fall Colors
When The Blended Blog chose the them fall creative as a theme I knew it was about time I shared this fun crayon pumpkin project. I’m not going to lie, this was two years ago and it may have been the last craft project I’ve completed with one of my littles. These are the kind of projects I can handle! It was quick, easy and just a little messy.
I first found this idea from Dream a Little Bigger Blog and already had plenty of crayons on hand from some other project I had been dreaming about. Carly Jo was all for it so we set out to create our own colorful pumpkin. Here are a few tips we learned from our experience.
It takes pretty much a direct flow of hot air from the hair dryer to melt begin the melting process. On our first try we had crayons flying every which way! Back to the drawing board and we decided to try just a dab of hot glue adhering each crayon to the pumpkin. Bingo, this insured the crayons stayed in place and we were still able to apply heat directly.
Keith would tell you to be sure to cover a wide area underneath the project! He was not impressed in the least at the amount of crayon we had on the concrete. The spray from the crayons was definitely more than I expected. Note, I am the most impatient person in the world when it comes to crafts, hence the reason this is not a DIY blog!
I’m guessing the hair dryer might not need to necessarily be used on full blast but it would take soooo much longer to melt those dang crayons. Patience is NOT the gift of the women in our home!
Aside from the crayon covered concrete, Carly Jo and I were pretty darn proud of how the pumpkin turned out! It made the perfect fall decor for her little room.
My creative skills for fall look a little more like this! I love taking pictures of the pumpkins and my little pumpkins most of all.
One of my fave pumpkin patch pictures EVER! Carly tooted right in the middle of our pictures and made sure to announce it to her siblings!
I mean…look at that toothless grin!!
Seriously cannot even with this picture!
I loved the pumpkins we saw in Nashville this October so much! Honestly, I’m not sure i even knew there were so many different types of pumpkins.
Now it’s your turn to share your fall creativity! Head over to The Blended Blog and linkup.
