Casual Turkey Attire

·
Thanksgiving Day celebrations vary from place to place for us but it is always more of a casual lunchtime affair.  This year we are hosting our family along with my mom, Keith’s mom and my friend Holly’s family.  I thought today it would be fun to share some casual fall outfits that are pulled together but comfortable enough for stuffing (pun intended) along with a few Thanksgiving thoughts provided by a few prompts.  Thanks to Biana for sharing this week!
Casual Layers with the best stretchy ponte pants.  In true Texas fashion the weather cannot decide between hot and humid so layering pieces which can easily be worn alone as the day heats up is key.

Favorite part of the Thanksgiving Day meal
Hands down it is the people I share it with.  Having all my children around the table sharing memories and laughs is the best.

Favorite side(s)

I am definitely a sides girl.  My Meme’s dressing recipe is my favorite and if I had nothing else on Thanksgiving it would still be complete as long as I had the dressing.  We are weird and don’t have some of the standards. No green bean casserole, no sweet potatoes but instead we will be having scalloped potatoes and broccoli rice casserole.  Oh and I do not need any other dessert but pumpkin pie!
Cozy layers and this cardigan is the very softest!

Have you hosted before?

So many times!  We have hosted probably up to 20 at our house once but most of the time our group stays about 12.  The Janac side often host a large Thanksgiving and I am hopeful one day when we billed our dream home and have a little more space we will be able to host a large crowd.

Favorite decor for Thanksgiving

The past two years it has been a combo of orange and turquoise with scattered pumpkins.  I skipped pulling out a few things this year and it was one of those times when less was more and I was perfectly happy with the results.  I did not even get around to posting my decor this year but you can see the almost identical fall look from last year.

Tree up before or after Thanksgiving (if you celebrate)

I’m a one holiday at a time kind of gal and so no tree for me until after.   Now, if we were traveling over the holiday or not hosting I might make an exception.  I did make a sweet little banner for Dillon’s room today so there is one little bit of Christmas spirit

Smooth or Chunky Cranberry Sauce

We are Ocean Spray out of the can kind of people.  I’m not even sure I have ever had any other kind but I do have a special dish which was my Meme’s that I always, always serve it in.
Leggings!  These Hue blackout leggings have become my favorite.

Biggest thing you’re thankful for this year

I would have to say health.  I talked a little about this last week but as I am getting older it seems like I am more and more aware that not everyone is blessed with good physical health and it definitely drives me to work to take care of mine a little more.
Wishing you all the very best Thanksgiving!

  1. I'm with you, health is a biggie, Mr. Nine and I have battled a virus for 3 weeks, longest ever and are just starting to feel good again. I wish you and your amazing family a most wonderful Thanksgiving full of good food and lots of love!!!

  2. Happy thanksgiving my friend! And I've been looking at those blackout leggings…do I need hem. I am on the hunt for some leggings that are thick enough to not see any skin through them 😉 #leggingproblemsarelegit

  3. We're having broccoli rice casserole also and always have Ocean cranberry sauce out of the can, always. Hope you and yours have a Thanksgiving, love all the outfits above 🙂

  4. Gah you always look so fab! I seriously would love to be your neighbor so I could borrow basically everything! I hope y'all have a fabulous Thanksgiving!

  5. Happy Thanksgiving. Loving all the outfit choices!
This is the first time I have ever decorated before Thanksgiving (I never host)… and it felt so good to have it complete!!! ☺️

  6. Thanks you Heather! Hope you had a super Thanksgiving! I'm still trying to decide if I want to drag my stuff out today or wait until Sunday. I bought fresh flowers yesterday and they look so pretty that I think I'm going to have to soak up fall for two more days haha

  7. I see I'll have to bring my own green bean and sweet potato casseroles to the party! My favorite look is the leopard, of course! I wore something similar to it a few weeks ago to church and work. Happy Thanksgiving!

  8. Haha….can you believe no one in my family likes green bean casserole and I do not do the sweet…sweet potatoes so they are always a no show. In all honesty dressing is really the only thing I love about the holiday and I could eat my weight in it!
