Buffalo Plaid + Blogtember #21
Bailey Jean continues to prove she knows how to make the Blogtember Challenge fun! Todays prompt; if I were a flavor of ice cream what flavor would I be? I know you are dying to know right? Well, I’d choose my favorite flavor of course! Rocky Road is pretty much the one ice cream I cannot pass on. Just like me it’s of course sweet and a little nutty. I really like to think I’m kind of frozen and unemotional at times but down deep I’m just a big softy like those fun little marshmallows. Now here I am contemplating a late night run to the corner store. Ha!
I thought I would also share this fun little shift dress I picked up a few weeks back on Labor Day weekend when all clothing was 20% off. It is suppose to be a dress so I didn’t have high hopes but y’all, I’m thinking I love it!
I paired it with a pair of white skinnies and stepped right into my peep toe booties.
Always up for a great pattern mix, I decided the leopard clutch from Gray Monroe was perfect!
And sadly, the Kimberly Necklace is one of my faves but no longer available from Stella & Dot. You can still find the knock off here.
Just for fun I mixed it up and added a chambray shirt and black leggings. I’m not 100% sold this works on me but it would definitely stretch this little shift dress a little further if fall ever decides to arrive here in Texas!
Buffalo plaid is one of my very faves this time of year! Here are a few things I’ve seen lately that caught my eye.
Cozy blanket, comfy pj’s all my faves when the temps finally cool off. Last year I thought about a buffalo plaid scarf so many times but never bit the bullet. This one from Old Navy has my eye. Fall is the perfect time for roasting smores around a campfire and how fun would this picnic blanket? I’m a sucker for a great popover and this buffalo plaid top is on sale and currently in my cart! And while it is not exactly buffalo plaid, this Flannel Vest scent from Twine and Cotton Market is a perfect scent if you like something a little more masculine.

So cute!!!!! I'm loving with the white!!
Jaymie
Love buffalo plaid and this top is so unique and fun!! Aren't those booties the best, I think my best purchase from the sale this summer!! You get prettier by the day!!
I love the the combo with the chambray shirt and I really love that you are wearing white pants after Labor Day! Some people still follow that rule but it's crazy!
Big fan of buffalo plaid – such a great fall staple!
Abby of Life in the Fash Lane
SO cute! You totally pull off the chambray combination. I feel pretty convinced there isn't much you can't pull off :).
You are super kind Beth! Hope you have a super day!
I think so too Abby! I realized this week my fave button down has a hole in it so I'm totally thinking I need to snag the J. Crew Factory popover!
No rules for white in Texas! Haha…I honestly will struggle with the white once the weather turns cooler but until then bring it.
I seriously have alternated between these booties and the wine colored Tom's non stop! I'm so glad I snagged them both on sale. Thanks sweet lady…hope you have a super Wednesday!
It was not my first thought but when I saw how it pops against the white I definitely fell in love! Have a great Wednesday Jaymie!
So the second outfit, the legging and top, that you aren't sold on… I LOVE on you! You look long and lean. I would totally work that style if I were you.
Buffalo plaid is my absolute favourite…I need this dress in my life!
One of my fav looks on you this far!!! Fab!
I LOVE the outfit paired with white pants! Fabulous! And, I want/need everything in your collaboration! I mean, you can't have too many blankets, right?!
I think both looks definitely work for you! Buffalo plaid is one of my absolute favorites! This is such a great tunic!!
I NEED THAT IN MY LIFE THIS SECOND!!!!! (All caps was definitely necessary).
isn't twine and cotton the best! i have met astleigh and she's just as sweet in real life!!!
OH my goodness I love this on you! I actually like both ways that you styled it. 🙂 Yes Fall needs to come around these parts too!
HOw cute is that with the chambray shirt under it? I like it! I think I'm going to rock out this pattern of shirts though, I cannot pull off a dress of big plaid. You look fabulous sweetie!
I was going to say that this was one of my favorite outfits of yours so far, but I think I've said that a few other times, so at the risk of not sounding "stalker-ish" I LOVE that dress!! I would totally have to wear it as a tunic, too, but it's adorable!
Both looks are fab! I love how your layered your sleeveless plaid top!
Love it styled both ways!
Love how you styled the tunic over the denim shirt. I am loving those booties, too!!! So, so cute!
I absolutely love both ways you've styled that dress! The chambray underneath is such a great idea!
Laura the layering is so something I think of when I think of your looks!! I know it's silly but it almost feels too youthful for me. Haha
Thanks Emily! I am still not sold on that look but maybe it will grown on me. These booties though…I think I should have bought a second pair!!
Thank you Lauren! Hope you have a super weekend!
I'm still not sure about the layering but after all the comments I may have to give it a go when things cool off here!
haha…Emily I will not ever turn down these comments! 🙂
Whatever Amanda! You could totally pull this off!
Thank you Sarah! I am super loving this and will be looking for more ways to style it. At under $20 it was a definite win!
I'm so jealous Nelle! It's so weird…all you young little moms I just love to follow. I think I feel somewhat connected since my oldest daughter is around your age. 🙂
Isn't it precious! Plus a great price point!
I just love it Laura! Red is one of my fave colors but would you believe until two years ago my closet had never seen this pattern?? Crazy! Have a super weekend!
Never, ever! And we both know how cozy this one would be!
Ahh…thank you sweet Jessi! Hope you have a super weekend!
Red is such a fave for me but I also love it in black and white. I can't believe until 2 years ago I had never owned any gingham or buffalo plaid. CRAZY!
Thank you Stephanie! I may have to give it another try after all the comments!!
I like the idea of wearing a short dress over skinnies. For some reason I never think of that. Looks great over chambray as well!
So cute! I love the buffalo plaid! And love the dress over skinny jeans!

Thank you Jacqui….I was definitely surprised by this "top"!
Thanks so much Mary! I really can't wait to try a turtle neck under as well. Hope you are having a great week!
So true Colleen! I just love it in pretty much any color but especially red. Hope you are having a super week.
It was definitely something new to try and I'm so excited it turned out so cute. Can't wait to find a few more ways to wear it.
Me either Alison! This is probably the very first time I've tried this. Looking forward to trying to spin this top a few more ways over the coming months. Hope you are having a super week.
