Beauty Products – Loving Lately

Today I’m joining the girls for the Girl Chat series with Danielle, Emily, Lindsay, Lizzie & Sierra to share a few makeup and beauty favorites.  I would like to say at my age this is a no brainer but I am really just figuring out exactly how to apply makeup and my hair is a constant process of learning what works. Today I’m sharing a few of the favorites I’ve found that have been purchased more than once or am currently loving!

Things to know:  My skin is super dry with very dark circles under my eyes and my eyelashes are very minimal.  My hair is super fine, not thin but not thick and also has a slight wave.

A few years back I signed up to receive a Birchbox each month and at $10/box it has been a fun way to try some products in a sample size (perfect for my travel bag) I may not have ever given a second look due to the price tag.  Most of the time I purchase makeup it is based on a referral from a friend or blogger or I’ve tried the sample.  Here are few I’m loving.

Loreal Volumous Primer||I’m pretty sure I used this years ago but recently when Biana mentioned it I decided to grab a tube and I definitely think for the price this little product does it’s job.  I had been loving a sample of Lancome from my box and it was also amazing and lasted a really long time but in the end for the price I will more than likely repurchase the Loreal.

Lancome Foundation||My daughter, Jordan, actually turned me on to this makeup and I have been using for several years now.  I really do prefer full coverage but also want something light and non greasy and this one fits the bill.  I alternate between applying with a blender or a foundation brush but either way I always love the finish.

Younique Skin Perfecting Concealer||My sis-in-law is a Younique rep and suggested this concealer last August.  It covers so well and a little teeny bit goes a really long way.  I’m still on the first tube 9 months later and definitely think this will be a repeat purchase.

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie||I know I found this lipgloss two years ago and have repurchased multiple times in the Trailblazer shade.  It is my favorite neutral shade to use and I love the teeny bit of tingling and plumping effect.

Avene Spring Water||Several years back I purchased the Mario Badescu face mist to carry with my for a quick pick me up when my skin was feeling dry during the day but then became obsessed with using it on my eyeshadow brushes before applying thanks to a little tip my friend Holly learned.  I ran out last month but had received the Avene in my Birchbox and decided to give it a try.  I’m loving that it is an aerosol spray instead of the pump.  If you have never tried applying your eye shadow after a little mist to your brush you should definitely give it a whirl.

Coola primer||This primer is the newest love I’ve found as it just arrived in my May Birchbox.  I’m not super diligent using primers and have even tested several by only using on one side of my face.  I don’t know if it is my drier skin or what but they never seem to do much for me.  Recently Karen shared a tip to be sure to let the primer set for 2 minutes before applying makeup so I need to try my test again.  I’m loving the consistency of the Coola primer and it just feels really nice and smooth on my face.

Benefits Gimme Brow||Another win from my Birchbox received in April.  I have been using Brow Zings for years as it seems to last forever but I am loving how easy this Gimme Brow product is.  I have lots of eyebrow which I thought meant I should not do a think to them aside from plucking but I love tidying them up with this product.

Amika Bombshell Blowout||This is another brand I’ve tried via Birchbox in both this blowout spray and dry shampoo.  It smells so good and both products work really great with my fine hair giving it more texture.

Big Sexy Hair||I was always a 99 cent white rain kind of hairspray girl until I ventured out.  This became my favorite years ago before switching to Kenra for a brief stint.  I may like Kenra a bit more but with every can I purchased the sprayer continued to get clogged so I’ve switched bag to Big Sexy.

Kristin Ess||Thickening spray really helps to add volume and texture to my hair but I prefer a lighter spray like this versus more a of a gel or lotion.  The smell is lovely and I’ve been happy with the volume and texture it adds to my hair without leaving any sort of greasiness.

Wet Brush||Every member of my family has one of these, even the men love it.  No need to say anymore!

Teasing Brush||Oh if I could go back in time and always have this little brush.  For years I used a fine tooth comb for teasing and backcombing and this was a game changer for me.  If you like big hair you definitely need this brush.

Living Proof Dry Shampoo||Yes, I bought into the hype and have purchased this one multiple times.  I will just say, for me and my hair, all dry shampoos are not created equal.  I love Living Proof because it does the job and my hair still feels like clean hair.  Some dry shampoos make my hair look good enough to stretch another day or so but touching it makes me feel ick.  It is worth the splurge for me.  I just began using the shampoo and conditioner so the verdict is still out on whether it is worth the splurge.

I think we would all say we want to look beautiful and feel beautiful but sometimes it is a lot of work!  I love finding products that make it simpler to pull myself together as spending time getting ready is not my favorite.  Seeing what works for others with similar hair and skin is my favorite way to find new products to try so I cannot wait to see what everyone links!
