ATX Weekend – The Queen’s Chronicles

Happy Monday! It was one of Carly’s fave weekends of the year; camp dropoff. Since my house was cleaned on Friday, we decided there was no better time to leave town. Ha! We headed to Austin for a couple of nights and just enjoyed having zero agenda.

Sunset Views #texashighways

With a sunset like this I knew we made the right decision! I love when God shows off.

Roadhouse #bastrop #burgers #eattexas

We stopped for dinner Roadhouse in Bastrop. Now, this is not The Roadhouse Steakhouse chain, but instead a burger stop you want on your list if you are ever passing through. We have always loved stopping and dining on the deck outdoors even before it felt safer to do so. They have amazing shakes too!

ATX City Views

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency just off South Congress and I upgraded to a room with a patio view. The hotel is old but has been renovated and they created rooms with a huge patio overlooking the lake. This made me so happy! The patio furnishings could use a little upgrade but it was nice to be able to step out for some fresh air and a beautiful view.

ATX Weekend

Being near the lake gave us some options for a little outdoor time. We walked a little over two miles around the lake to get the day started Saturday.

Lady Bird Lake #atx #austin

Hard to read in this picture but I took it because Never Give Up was painted on this bridge. I think that is a great reminder.

ATX #murals

We didn’t do much mural hoping this trip but I did love this one! If you want to see some of the fun South Congress murals you can hop over to this girls trip post.

ATX Weekend #austin #atx #kayaking

We decided to take our chancs with the clouds and headed out for a little kayaking, Love this girl and her adventurous spirit. There might have been a little yelling, however, as is common when both girls want to be in charge and that just doesn’t work for paddling!

And this guy just floats around tolerating us.

ATX Weekend #holyroller #Austineats #austin

A friend suggested Holy Roller as a great brunch location and it did not disapoint. These loaded brisket fries were incredible! We followed them up with made to order chicken pot pie, a bombshell burger and a meatloaf sandwich that didn’t photograph well but tasted amazing!

And then we napped for like 3 hours! Y’all, I’m not a good napper so the only time it happens for me is if I leave my house and get away. I definitely fight the urge to feel like I’ve missed out on something but this nap was much needed.

ATX Weekend #Austineats #Taverna

We walked to dinner and our first choice was only open for takeout. Taverna was a restaurant I tried previously on a girls weekend so we decided to give it a try. No caper was left behind on this plate!

Sunset Views #austin #ladybirdlake

We made it back to the South Congress bridge just in time to see this sunset and to watch the bats take off for their evening flight. It was the first time for us to see this and truly it was wild the number of bats that came flying out. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you can visit the South Congress bat guide. Sunset is the best time.

Austin #cityviews #atx #austin

We had a lazy wakeup on Sunday with a little reading before the rain came.

Austin #atx #casinoelcamino #burgers #austineats

We met our friends for lunch at Casino el Camino on 6th street and ordered this burger without noticing on the menu it was a 3/4 pounder! Dont’ worry, I’m not a quitter even if the bun has to go. This was a straight up beer joint and 6th street has gotten a little rough in this area, but this burger and the fries were legit.

ATX Weekending

One lat little picture with our girl before we head to drop her off!

And a sweet picture with Hope as she would be heading to camp too but in a different location. These girls are just growing up too fast.

We had lots of time to kill so snowcones were in order from Bahama Bucks.

Camp Dropoff

The perks of being super early, we were first in line and were able to take this cute pic before the gates opened.

Camp Dropoff #TbarM #summercamp

Being the “first car in camp” was quite exciting as all the counselors cheered our arrival. We did get to see Dillon for a very brief moment before he unloaded our car. It was the quickest dropoff ever as parents weren’t allowed to get out of the vehicl.

Loved finding some pictures of our girl already beaming! No mask can hide the joy in these eyes when she saw her fave counselor from last year.

Camp Dropoff #TbarM #summercamp

The College Station crew is back together for camp! Carly asked me all week if her friend Ella was coming and I never did find out so I’m sure she was thrilled to see her.

Camp Dropoff #TbarM #summercamp

For sure, camp looks a little different but I think we can all take a que from these kids. A mask cannot stop us from feeling joy, having fun or embracing the love of Jesus. I hope they hae the best week!
