75 Hard Style Challenge
You may have heard of the 75 hard challenge which challenges you to work through mental toughness and discipline. While I wasn’t interested in challenging myself that intensely, when I ran across the idea of a 75 hard style challenge I was intrigued. For 75 days you use what you have in your closet to explore your style and really focus on the clothes you love and weed out what you don’t. No buying a new outfit for every event or grabbing items just because they are a good deal.
In 2023, I also added about 17 pounds to my frame. It was a stressful year and I ate my way through it what can I say! I don’t plan on staying here, however, and am back no my macro eating plan to start working no nourishing my body. This is another reason it doesn’t make sense for me to splurge on a ton of new clothes right now. Instead, I invested in some spanx shorts to help me feel a little more confident in the clothes I currently am wearing.
With a few exceptions, I’m going to work on pulling together my outfits for 75 days and actually get dressed every day even on the weekends! I’m also going too try really hard to part with items in my closet that are not well loved and don’t see much time in the rotation. I have so many pieces that are just taking up space! Exceptions will be any pieces I receive and love for collaborations and a black dress that I need for an event Carly & I have in March.
Here is a quick look at my outfits from my week.
This black sweater dress was alway a favorite but the majority of the weight I put on is in my belly and my hips, aka saddle bags, so I was to self conscious to wear it. After I ordered these spanx shorts, I felt so much more confident and they aren’t that restrictive. It was worth it to me to splurge a little and feel good in my outfit. Everything I’m wearing are old and well loved. My black boots are getting to the point they probably need to be replaced but I grabbed a new oil sponge to freshen them up and it did the tric foor another year. This denim jacket has the perfect amount of stretch and every closet needs a denim jacket for sure.
I received this sweater back in December from Avara and I love it so much. It’s sold out but you can shop others from this same brand here. You can also use the code SHELLY15 for a little discount. Jeans I grabbed last summer and they are comfortable but a little short for me. Nothing my tall boots can’t fix! My Frye boots were an investment during the Nsale in 2015!! They still look almost brand new and are so comfortable.
This pink dress is a workhorse! I’ve only had it for 2 weeks after receiving from Avara’s Valentines line but have worn it once each week. Adding a belt (literally 17 years old!) for a little personalization and tossing on my white boots and denim jacket gives it a little bit of a rodeo feel. I always know a piece is a win for me by the number of people who comment and this dress definitely draws the comments. It is currently 30% off and I would say a very true to size option.
Okay, so yes this top is ANOTHER piece Avara gifted me but I have also worn it multiple times already. It’s so darling!! This week I paired it with my fave faux leather pants that are 2 years old and my white booties. I never dreamed I would wear these booties so much but I love them so much that this is the second time I’ve purchased. I also topped it with a long off white cardigan because my office is often cold but forgot to take a picture!
I’m excited to purge my closet and really get back to wearing the things that make me feel the most like myself. The real trick will be resisting the urge to buy, buy, buy especially with spring around the corner!
