5 Easy Ways to Share Compliments + Printable
Did you know January 24th is always National Compliment day? I was totally unaware so I thought it would be fun to share with you all today! I mean, I don’t know about you, but I love a good heartfelt compliment for no reason at all. Even if words of affirmation is not your love language it still an be so heartwarming to receive an unexpected compliment. Here are five easy ways you can use your words to share some joy on the 24th!
ONE | Easy enough, grab some sticky notes and markers and get busy! You can write random compliments to fit people you may not even know or make them more specific. I’m planning to add notes to the bathroom mirror for my kids and also to the mirror in the ladies room (and maybe even the mens room if I get brave) at work. If you are feeling like spreading the love a little further, leave a stack of post it notes along with some markers to encourage others to do the same.
TWO | Write a letter to someone and compliment them on something specific you have witnessed. It could be your pastor, the custodian, a doctor or nurse or a teacher.
THREE | Look for one thing to compliment to each person you encounter during the day. It might be a new sweater, some fun shoes or maybe just the way they always listen or make you laugh. Take that extra step to go out of your way to give a compliment!
FOUR | Send a quick text or social media message to compliment a friend or even a “celebrity”. Have you listened to a podcast or a read a book recently you had major takeaways from? Share them with the author!
FIVE | Do you have someone you love to follow because of their style? Recreate an outfit and send a picture of yourself! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery right? Or maybe you have tried a new recipe lately and love it. Take a picture and share it on social media tagging the chef who created it! Believe me, they will love it!
Here are two bonus tips. If you are complimenting someone you know personally do try to make the compliment sincere! And secondly, if you receive a compliment accept it graciously and let it fill your day with joy.
