2021 Outfits January to December

In 2021 getting dressed was more of a challenge to me than it’s been in awhile. Whether the stress of the last few years or menopause is to blame, I’m not quite sure but my body has definitely changed and it took me a bit to hit my stride picking outfits. I’ve picked my favorite 2021 outfits from January to December to share here today to remind myself our greatest accessory is a smile. Finding a way to pull a look together that still makes you feel confident goes a really long way to helping you feel your best self.

You can never beat an unexpected snow day in Texas! Layering a fun plaid flannel with one of my favorite sweaters over leggings (my faves on sale)was an easy choice to pair with my red rain boots. Apparently vests must not be an “in” thing right now as I searched for a similar one too link and struck out but I will not be tossing this one any time soon! I wil be tossing this sweater today which has been in my closet for a really long time….BUT…yesterday it unfortunately made it’s way into my washing machine AND dryer and it I dry clean only. It was a sad laundry day!

In February last year I committed to a “create 28” in February and posted my outfits for all 28 days….including the week we were stuck at home during the great Texas freeze which were not too cute! Ha! This one, however, was my look on day one and I LOVED it. Perfect for Valentines day too! Of course what I remember most is Carly telling me I looked like a stewardess!

Overalls have not been in my closet for YEARS but I found this pair at Target and it was love at first wear. I’ve dressed them casually like this but also dressed them up with a blazer and heels and took them to the office. If you can ever make it work into your schedule, the poppies are something to see in Georgetown, Texas each spring! They even host a red poppy festival each year.

2021 Outifts

Spring always means lots of time at the ballpark for us and that often means layering as it can start off chilly and get hot in a hurry. I found this sweatshirt at Madewell and had to have it! The v-neck sold me and it was a perfect length but this years henley version has me swooning. Of course I have 3 of these gingham shirts in my closet as I love wearing our team colors while still looking pulled together. Since our team keeps changing I need all the colors…ha!

I had a fun collaboration with Chicos in the spring and this little romper was one of my favorite pieces to style. A jumpsuit, or romper if you like, is such a one and done look if you find the right piece. Chicos has so many to choose from that wear well and they are having a great sale. The lightweiight denim jacket also saw lots of wear for me even during the warm summer months.

One of my most worn summer pieces came from Amazon! I loved this little sundress so much and it was easy to pair with a denim jacket or a blazer for the office. It also was perfect for Miss Haisley’s first birthday which was a watermelon theme!

Stitch Fix has still been a fun thing to receive, however, I had more misses than hits in 2021 due to my size changing a bit. These two pieces, however, were clear wins. These were by far my favorite shorts as they were cut just perfectly and had the right amount of stretch. A fun floral top is always a closet must for me and this one will be great to layer this spring.

I’m kukoo for a kimono and when I saw these colors I had to have this one! It was a splurge on vacation and it gave me a 70s vibe. I will say, I didn’t wear it as much as I had hoped and had a hard time figuring out what to wear underneath but hoping to figure it out and give it more street time this spring.

This dress by far is one of my very favorite adds in 2021. It is flowy and cut so perfectly to hide any imperfections. The colors made it a perfect choice for our Christmas Card pictures too!

EVERY person I know loved this flannel and it sold out and was restocked multiple times. It was definitely different than any other plaid in my closet and I had it on repeat all fall. I struggle sometimes wearing flats as I just feel like they look odd on me but I loved how this look came together. These black jeans were another Stitch Fix win for me from Liverpool Los Angeles. The brand was new to me in 2022 but I will be trying them again.

2021 Outfits

Back to old comfortable favorites like my Paige bootcut jeans, Frye boots and this layered combo. I’m telling you the gingham didn’t make a double appearance in my 2021 outfits for no reason….it’s so versatile all year long! This Madewell cardigan was an anniversary sale purchase and I love the color.

Lastly, another Amazon win! I loved this green dress so, so much and plan to find a way to wear it to the office this winter too. It was the pefect piece for a Christmas event and is truly way more flattering than I would have expected. I also have splurged on several pair of new boots this fall and this pair from Sam Edelman have definitely been hot in the rotation. I was thrilled to grab them on sale before they sold out!

I’m not 100% sure where I’m going to take the fashion side of the blog in 2022. I am currently working on a little remodel of our guest bedroom that will hopefully give me a better location for try ons and such. When I first started the blog, my favorite thing was using my closet to pull together outfits with what I have and show you different ways to wear the same pieces. I would like to do more of that vs more shopping in 2022!

What would you like to see? Cheers to staying comfy and stylish in 2022 whiile always bringing your best accessory…your smile!
