Second Time Around + Ageless Style Link Up

·

Welcome to the Ageless Style Link Up where each month one of the lovely ladies in our group chooses a theme and we all pull together our best look.  This month Ana from Mrs. American Made chose the theme Second Time Around sharing a vintage or second hand piece.

I may be the first one kicked out of our group as this theme is not one I readily have available. While I am often amazed at the second hand finds others come across, I can honestly tell you I do not shop second hand.  It’s not that I haven’t tried but thus far I have never been successful and honestly the time it takes to shop for a great find is just not something I’m willing to do at this stage in my life.

What I am fairly good at, however, is keeping items for an extended time in my own closet. Sometimes they remain so long the style comes around a second time.  Today I’m sharing one of those looks I loved in the late 90’s which appears to be making a comeback.

Bell Sleeve Blouse (similar, similar) | Neck Scarf (similar here, here
I probably have at least 10 of these neck scarves and most were purchased at Casual Corner which, if you shopped there, will tell you how old they are.  I wore them mostly with suits and sheath dresses during that time as I was working in an office requiring more business professional dress.

I’m thinking I love this more casual look so much better!  This top is at least three years old as well but thankfully these sleeves are still making it into the fashion scene.

Spring Style
No vintage boots for me but I am a little out of control with the number of booties I now have.  I am loving this neutral pair and I think they work so well with this outfit.
Spring Style
Sadly, I may have ruined my new favorite pair of white crops by leaning against the car loading groceries.  This is my 2nd favorite pair and honestly I keep several pair on hand because, y’all, I am so messy!

I also love this striped city clutch I picked up last spring which is still in stock.  I would love to help you earn one of your own by hosting a Stella & Dot virtual party.  Special bonuses in March make it a great month to host.  Contact me if you are interested!

So what about you?  Are you a thrifty shopper hitting up the 2nd hand shops in your area?  Or have you tried some of the 2nd hand shops online such as Poshmark?  I’d love to know your strategy and how you make this work for you.

  1. Shopping second hand can be time consuming and very hit or miss. I love the scarf with this outfit. You look great!

  2. I love the outfit! I'm the same as you I can never find anything at vintage shops but I will have things in my own closet for years lol My sister was actually teasing me this weekend saying the shirt I was wearing must be 15 years old haha

  3. I love thrift store shopping but we don't have the best shops here in the Algarve where I live. Occasionally I'll pop in and find a cute piece but it doesn't happen very often. Sometimes I make do with eBay (I've had loads of second hand goodies from there)!
You look lovely in this outfit, I do love a bell sleeve!

  4. I do the same exact thing… I hold on to some pieces for YEARS! I totally still wear a couple of skirts that I got back in 1998 when I got my first job. And bell sleeves – all the yes! I was sad when those went out of style so I'm totally on board with them coming back around. You look fantastic as always, girl! You can wear anything!

  5. Yes, I agree why would we ever kick you out – you have such adorable style – love todays look. Brilliant top! Unfortunately I know where you're coming from when it comes to booties – it's happening to me too – eek!

    xoxo Yvonne

  6. I forgot all about Casual Corner! Wow I loved that store. You know, we'd shop at Casual Corner then pop over to The Limited…those were the days. 🙂

Love your neck scarf with the bell sleeve top. They both look great with white skinnies and the booties.

Like you, I don't shop thrift stores. Too time consuming and hit or miss for me. I am jealous when I see what others find though.

  7. I DO remember Casual Corner 🙂 I actually still have a few of those neck scarfs from Express that I just could not bear to part with, so it looks like I will be wearing them again. I love the white jeans with the bright top!

  8. I am a big fan of orange and your top got my attention immediately! What a fun look. I just found your blog and love it. Coming from Turning Heads Tuesday. Peace! Cheryl Tucker

  9. I am loving your outfit! You could wear that now and in the summer, it's so versatile! I need a those booties too! I've been seeing booties like those everywhere and wanting a pair!
