2017 Outfits in Review
Today I’ve chosen one outfit from each month over the past year to show off a little 2017 outfit review. I’m thinking the cold shoulder and off the shoulder will continue to be trendy in 2018 or at least I’m hoping so. Currently items such as a fanny pack and puffed sleeves are appearing and I think I am going to have to pass. The thing about style is you need to make it your own or it will never look or feel “right”. I’m all about trying some of the trends in 2018 but only if they fit with a look fitting for me! And I typically am going to look to spend less dollars on trendy items while saving my big dollars for quality items with staying power.
Here are the outfits I’ve chosen for 2017; one for each month of the year.
If I had to live in the cold all the time I am not sure I would love it so much but I do love dressing the part for a few months of the year and a fair isle sweater definitely
Leopard Boots | Faux Leather Leggings
I wore this look on a trip to Vegas after scoring these leopard booties and it was one of my favorites of the year!
I pulled out the white jeans early and kept it colorful for a girls trip to Dallas in March. This is an outfit I feel is somewhat timeless and can work across all seasons by changing up the colors and accessories. Jeans+Top+Vest just works as a base.
I kept this dress as part of a Stitch Fix I received after requesting some dresses and it was perfect to wear as I co-hosted a conference at work. If you have never tried Stitch Fix you can use this code to sign up and receive your first fix and the fee will be waved!
A simple pattered top is really the base to this look as it really pulls it all together. Finding a few jackets with some fun detail is always a plus and this white denim is such a great addition to my closet. Casual crops and top knots will always be a favorite for me!
I fell in love with wrap dresses in 2017! I ordered this Maggy London on sale and quickly added several to my closet. This dress works so well for curves but still looks very professional and pulled together.
Off the shoulder and cold shoulder were huge in 2017 and I was drinking the koolaid alot! The colors in this top are so fun and it flowed perfectly.
Oh summer! Full of shorts and late nights with plenty of opportunities for date nights. This outfit was a perfect combo!
I used this top to create both a work and play outfit and this skirt has been a favorite.
Wearing camo has been a favorite in 2017 and I was crazy over layering this denim top over a little camo.
We vacationed in Scottsdale, Arizona in October and I shared all my looks which are definitely some of my favorites of the year including these booties and this scarf!
Target definitely impressed me with several items including this pairing. This sweater sold out quickly in all colors but here is a similar option.
The last look for 2017 was a holiday look I created with pieces already hiding in my closet! I’m kind of crazy over how it turned out after layering a vest over a cold shoulder.

I’ve been so glad the fur vests are still huge, because they are so fun and warm!!!

Thanks Jodie! Vests are just such an easy way to layer here in Texas when we want to dress for the seasons but have such wonky weather in the winter. Wishing you a Happy New Year!
So many great looks! The wrap dress is my fav because you look so good in wrap dresses!
Aww….thank you Amy! I’m super glad I found wrap dresses in 2017!
An amazing year in review. I loved all your outfits, especially the cargo vest.
You can never go wrong with the cargo vest in my opinion Rosemary! Happy New Year!
Love the outfits!! Everything is so cute! Great recap!
Thank you much! Hope you have had a wonderful holiday. Happy New Year!
Good choices! There are several I need to pin so I can remember to copy!
I really, really, really want to continue to work to shop my closet so I will definitely be adding to my own board for outfit inspiration! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and wishing you a sweet New Year Mireille!
I love that black and white tote! Great looks and little tips for the outfits!

It’s been the best Ruth and I love it but have almost worn it out sadly!! I may have to order another as I haven’t found a replacement I love as much. Hope you are having a super holiday! Wishing you the best in 2018!
I don’t know how you chose just one outfit from each month! What a big job, there are so many great ones! I love that Maggy London dress, I have one and I agree, it is perfect on curves and polished and professional. I’d like to add a short sleeve version this year .
Yes, I am going to say NO to a fanny pack. It can be a trend but it won’t be one I indulge in. In 2017 I remember seeing lots of those bamboo purses – they reminded me of birdcages. That was a trend I just couldn’t do – I’m so clumsy all I could think was that I’d smoosh it and break it or hurt someone with it, lol!
Happy new Year sweet Shelly – hoping you come to Florida in March!!!!

Kellyann
I’m laughing out loud over the bamboo purse comment! As I get older I definitely recognize what I am willing to indulge in style wise!
That Maggy London dress is stunning and I love the color combination! So many amazing outfits, great recap!
OMG, so much cuteness here! Swooning over that lil’ summer clutch with the fringe:) Hope you had a great Christmas!

Black Coffee Beautiful
Thanks Laura! This clutch is definitely one of my favorite purchases of 2017! Wishing you the best in 2018!
I loved looking back at your outfits. My top 3 would be the wrap dress for sure, the ots flower top and white jeans and the fur vest with black. You are such a cutie!!!
Hoping to continue to shop my dang closet in 2018 and purge all the things I really don’t have a huge love for…..but you can bet all of these are staying! haha Hope you are soaking up the holidays with your family!
I love this post idea and seeing your wardrobe change through the seasons.!
You always look fabulous! Those leather leggings and leopard boots are smoking!
