2017 Christmas Card – Family Photos

·

Creating our annual Christmas card is one of my favorite things to do each year even if finding a time to get my crew together some years is tougher than others.  In the even years I typically hire a professional photographer to take our pictures and the odd years I handle the photos.  This year it was all me and thankfully a sweet friend pushed the button on the camera and all I had to do was set up the shots.  Today I’m sharing the final photo I used as well as all the out takes of our photo session which often are some of my favorites.

I feel like this was the first year there was no over thinking on our wardrobe.  I grabbed Carly’s top at Old Navy that day and basically told everyone else to just wear something they felt good in and I love that we all blended without looking too matchy. We really wanted Dutch in our pictures this year and he was seriously camera shy but thankfully he was the only one!

Last year I shared tips to successful family photos.  I feel so lucky my family knows how special capturing an annual picture and even though they do give me a slight bit of grief, they will definitely rally and get it done with smiles on their faces.  One of the main reasons I love this annual photo is to just see how much they have all changed.  This year Carly Jo and Dillon both started wearing contacts and seeing them without the glasses on their faces made such a change.

  2. I love your card and I love that you took those pictures! They are so good of your family! Y’all look like a lot of fun to be around 🙂

  3. I AM sending out cards this year….I just had to wait a quick minute before I ordered them! I know you are anxiously awaiting its arrival. HAHAHA! I have decided that I miss having my girls and SIL in on the pics so next year we are doing a family photo shoot! Your pics are amazing and I hope I am on the receiving end of your card as well!

  4. Precious pictures my friend! I love them, especially the outtakes! It’s awesome that you all are wearing clothes in colors that blend without being too fussy and being to staged. I like easy, real life pictures, your family photos should feel like “you” not some staged version. You are absolutely gorgeous in these photos – the one of you and Keith is priceless!

    1. Thanks so much Kellyann! I really have always wanted some really unposed lifestyle pictures of our family…..I’m hoping one day I’ll set up the perfect scene for that! This seriously was the very easiest it has ever been and I didn’t fret at all about the combos.
