Joyful Card Design

Designing our family holiday card is always, always one of my very favorite things to do each year. Typically I only splurge on professional photos every other year and try to fill in the off years with candid shots or a photo taken by yours truly and a tripod.  Last year was our “off” year so that meant a photo session with my lovely photographer, Sarah was the plan in 2016!  I’m so happy with the results.
Over the summer I worked with Minted to create a gallery wall in my bathroom using artwork from their site. I loved the experience so much and knew when it came to my holiday card Minted would be my top choice.
**This post is sponsored by Minted, however, all opinions are my own**
Here are the top 5 reasons I chose Minted!
The holiday card designs are endless and I love to be able to see the actual artist and where they are from.  Of course I’m not showing you guys the “real” card I designed as I really want to wait until I actually have them in the mail so as not to ruin the surprise.  I’ve chosen some with shots we didn’t use but I think you can still get the idea.

Since there are so many designs to choose from, the Find it Fast feature is so helpful.  After narrowing down the number of pictures, photo orientation and format (flat, folded, etc), you can choose a picture and it will be populated in multiple card designs.
Did I mention there are 21 (let that soak in) different options for the back of most cards?  If you love sharing bits and pieces about your family via your car that is an option in multiple ways.  Since most receiving my card are probably all caught up on our recent events due to my social media presence, I love using individual pictures of each of the kids.
There is nothing I love more this time of year than saving time!  There are way too many items on my list and so many are more fun than addressing envelopes.  Not only does Minted offer adorable envelope design, they also will address your envelopes FOR FREE!
That’s right, at no extra charge, you can download an excel template straight from their site and enter your addresses.  Granted, in year one this take a bit of time but in the future years this is a definite plus.  Thanks to my friend Holly, I already had all of my addresses in excel and it was easy to cut and paste into the easy template.  Here is the sample template.
The upload process was so easy and I was able to scroll through and see exactly what the addresses were going to look like once printed.   I may set a record for having these out this year!
There truly is something for everyone and many of the designs can quickly be altered to fit your theme whether it be holiday, Christmas, New Years or a more religious theme.  So many things can be altered and change by you such as the font look and size as well as the color.  Some of the graphics can also be moved to different areas of the photo.

Same card design but each needed something modified just a bit to fit with the colors and layout of the picture.

Minted can also be contacted for some minor adjustments to design elements.  For instance, see the white dots so close to Carly’s face?  I am guessing they could probably remove those fairly easily if I had been sold on this design.  Since my bigs have a different last name, I always like to list our name verses using The Janac Family.  Many cards will not accommodate and I would bet Minted designers could have easily tweaked a design to allow the box to be a little bigger.

  1. I need to check out Minted, we're planning on doing our Christmas cards next week. And how tall has your son gotten??? Dillon's going to be a giant at this point. Can't wait to see your final version.

  2. Love, love, love all your family pictures. I especially like the one of all of you taken from above. I am already thinking how I can recreate that. I'm late taking our pictures this year. Usually I have already ordered cards by Thanksgiving, but maybe all the warm weather has made me procrastinate the holiday tradition! Have a great day!

  3. Love love your family photos! I'm running late with mine this year. Between my Ballers, our schedules are so chaotic! I'll be lucky so get one in our backyard!!

  4. That is typically me Jill. Only one year did I have our picture read and cards made this early and I remember what a blessing it was. Last year I'm pretty sure I mailed my cards the day before Christmas!! The addressing was so easy and so worth it and the envelopes look great. Have a super weekend.

  5. I seriously could not have imagined what that picture was going to look like when she posed us but I should never doubt her. It seriously is one of my very faves and I can't wait to put it in a frame! Loving this cold front..hope you enjoy a beautiful weekend!

  6. Liz…he is 6'2"!!! He has outgrown everyone in the family. It's so weird to see him taller than his dad. I think he is probably done getting taller but who knows he may have another inch in there somewhere. My daddy was really tall and built just like Dillon when he was young. 🙂 Have a super weekend.
