Friday Favorites – Random Roundup
It is safe to say the first week of October has been a whirlwind but I have survived. The one thing I cannot do since being on the upper end of 40 is ignore when my body is telling me to sleep! When the weeks are busy with kid activities and I have planned ahead, well, that means you get some wonky random roundup on the blog for Friday favorites!
Teams divided but friends united is always my favorite! These boys do not let being rivals stand in the way of their friendship and last night was no exception. They are adorable and their mom’s think they are pretty stinkin’ (no pun intended here) cute.
A special thanks to Jessica from Elegantly Dressed and Stylish and Jennie from A Pocketful of Polka Dots for featuring one of my fashion post during their weekly linkup! It is always such a fun surprise to see myself on another blog! Jennie also led the charge this month for the Ageless Style Linkup where we were showing off ways to style a field jacket. This linkup is live the first Tuesday of each month so mark your calendar and come join us!
October is a month of celebrations around here and we got started with my favorite grown up girl turning 26! For real, how in the world!! I shared some thoughts for my girl yesterday as she gives Cheers to 26!
This girl definitely shares my love for all things pumpkin and she has the cooking bug! She decided a pumpkin angel food cake was the dessert for our week.
Of course we were cooking straight from Shay’s new cookbook, Mix-and-Match Mama Eats, which is available to order now by the way. I love that Shay broke the cookbook down by month with ideas for both dinner and dessert.
We also made BBQ tacos for Taco Tuesday, also National Taco Day this week, and they were delicious! A direct quote from Carly Jo “I love that all of her recipes can be made in less than 25 minutes”. Y’all, I have not timed any of her recipes but this is a testament to how easy they are!
Honestly, I have not used cookbooks in years but recently purchased 3 and it has really opened up some fun bonding time between me and this little! Sometimes it really is more fun to have a hard copy of something.
Vanessa of X-tremely V organized a fall scarf swap and I was uber excited to receive this little box from Nordstrom this week! Katie of The Mishaps and Mayhem of a Solitary Life was the gifter and oh my goodness y’all, it’s like a dream when you receive something you have been wanting forever! We will all be doing a reveal next week showing off the scarf we received and I can’t wait to share! Katie, you did so good!! I actually was assigned Vanessa, no pressure whatsoever right?!!
That’s it for my random roundup this week! If you are needing a fun prompt, Spiel the Beans is headed your way next Tuesday, October 11th. With the holidays coming up and all that Halloween candy just around the corner, we want you to share your tips for staying fit this fall and through the holidays! Katy and I would love for you to join us!
Wishing you all the best weekend! We will be headed to Kyle Field to watch the Aggies BTHO Tennessee. Hopefully we leave them thinking what the hail just happened?? 🙂

What a fun post! I can't wait to see your scarf!! Katie is one of my favorites!! Have a great weekend!
I am fairly certain every red blooded American participated in National Taco Day.
Ah!!! I LOVE the picture with us and the boys!!! Be still my heart! I know we say this all the time but where did our little boys go?!
I participated in a scarf exchange last year too and it was so fun!
You are too sweat Chelsea….I really do love putting outfits together. 🙂
Girl…for real! My goal this month is to work on 4 post per week but I need to get organized!
She's a sweetie. I've got to get on the ball and start me a monthly blogger showoff like you are doing. So many fun bloggers out there to share.
Girl…I probably eat a taco 4 out of 7 days at least….or at least when I'm not trying to restrict carbs. lol
I'm so glad we took this! We are seriously going to be holding each other up soon when we dump them off at college….it's kind of freaking me out how fast this is all going!!
Just popping in from the link up. Can't wait to see your scarf….what a fun idea! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
I agree sometimes you need a hard copy of a cook book! What a sweet activity for you and your daughter 🙂
Pumpkin angel food cake sounds so good! I haven't bought a cookbooks in ages and want to pick up Mix and Match Mama's. The scarf exchange sounds fun – can't wait to see your scarf!

Those recipes sound amazing! I really need to pick that cook book up for sure. I hope y'all are having a great weekend.
I really do think it is one of the best family meal cookbooks Beth!
It was so delish Jill! And the calories were not awful either..win, win!
It really is something I've missed I think! Any chance I can find to have a little bonding time one on one I'm going to jump on it Amanda! Hope you had a super weekend.
I have a little I am teaching to cook. Maybe a cookbook or two would be a good plan!
It is so much fun Melissa! Although I may have to start encouraging her to make things to give away because I'm currently paying for all those extra cals!
